A/N: My first xmen fic, so try and be nice, although criticisms also welcome. Depending on reviews, I may continue, but this was just a quick idea that's been running through my head… J enjoy!
My name is Amy, Amy Stevens. Surprising as it is, I'm a mutant.
Okay, well then I suck at being a mutant.
Ya know how you here about all those really powerful mutants out there - mutants who are telepathic, shape shifters, or even teleporters? Well, I'm not any of that.
My mutation, if you can call it that, was my eyes….big deal. Could have been, but it's not.
To make the story short - It was a school dance, and my first kiss. The next morning, while I was brushing my teeth, I first saw my normally honey brown eyes were now a bright blue.
And that's it.
It didn't take that much to explain to people, everyone assumed that I'd just simply gotten contacts. Actually, I even got a few compliments on my new eyes.
But in a way, at the time, I felt kinda cheated.
I apparently had the mutant gene, so I easily could have gotten stuck with a mutation so different, maybe good –although most likely bad.
So also, in a way, I suppose I'm lucky. Most people would never even expect for me to be a mutant, unlike with so many others. I remember, a few days ago, I was watching the news about a report about another brutal mutant killing – this time to a blue skinned and winged guy. With a mutation like that – so unlike mine - you really stick out.
Many people, when they think of mutants, they think of dangerous, powerful beings bent on death to humans…How wrong can some people be? I am really anything but dangerous – well mutation induced at least. I'm about as dangerous as any other fifteen-year-old girl, growing up in the suburbs is. And powerful? Ha! Oh yeah, beware of miss blue eyes. That's really a useful power. Jeez, I roll my eyes at the thought. I really couldn't be any less of the two from my perspective.
Oh well, for better or worse, I'm stuck with being either a near-regular human or really sorry mutant.
Doesn't really matter which one I guess….
