Here's a Mike/Kate one-shot that I wrote agessss ago but re-found and decided to post. Don't own Sea Patrol :)
***
She takes a deep breath before being pushed back under water. Memories flicker in front of her eyes.
Getting her sister dressed and ready for school as her mum lay sprawled on the coach drunk at 10 in the morning.
Another breath.
Walking out the door and turning to see her sister's face crumple as she leaves forever.
Another breath.
Her first day at ADFA, a picture of perfection, looking like the confident woman she wished she was.
Another breath.
Looking into the eyes of her instructor for the first time and realising that there was more than just a professional relationship there.
Another breath.
A kiss. A touch. Waking up the next morning as the sun streams into the bedroom.
Another breath.
Walking away knowing they'll never see each other again and they'll never be the same.
Another breath.
Slowly walking up to the patrol boat she had already decided she despised of.
Another breath.
The shock of seeing his face again.
Another breath.
The shock of realising the same feelings were still there.
Another breath.
Hours spent together, fleeting glances, hidden smiles before realising that she loved him.
Another breath. Then nothing.
***
A tear roles down his face as he looks down at the body of the woman he loves.

I know it's a little dark but it popped into my head one day when I thought what would happen if Mike lost Kate in some sort of accident at sea. Reviews are love :)
