I've had this done for a while now. So...yeah.

Also, I've been watching YGay twitter all night.

jesus take the wheel.

She thought the funeral would be the worst. She was wrong.

The funeral was hard, especially since it was vacant of any family. Her mentor and friends came to support her. Her mother's boss came, some of her co-workers. That's it.

It's her fault, really. She should have known Jade would recognize her. She should have kept her mom safe. That's what hero's did right? They kept people they loved safe.

The worst part is the empty void that's left over. She doesn't have anyone to really talk to. Not about the important things. There's only so much Artemis can tell Megan, and Black Canary is a good listener, but she's pretty uncomfortable when dealing with…well with this stuff.

She sits alone on the couch, TV off, everyone asleep. She can't sleep because all she can dream about is how brave her mother must have been before she'd been killed. She was always so brave.

It's unexpected when Wally sits down next to her, his Flash pajama bottoms oddly comforting. He sits next to her, not saying a word. She barely breaths, afraid to open her mouth, because all she's been able to do is cry, and she doesn't need to give Wally ammunition for later.

It's even more unexpected when he says, "I don't know what its like."

He doesn't. Not really. He's got both his parents who support him, and he's got his friends and Jay and his Aunt Iris and of course he has Barry, so why would he know how it feels?

"I have…" he clears his throat. She pulls her knees to her chest and rests her chin on them. Shutting her eyes tightly, she listens.

"I may have a big family Artemis, but from what I heard today about your mom, she seemed like a pretty awesome lady. You're lucky that you got to…" he rubs his neck uncomfortably. Starting again he murmurs, "You have us. You always have us. I know I made it seem like you were Roy's replacement-"

"You don't have to be nice because my mom di- died."

"I'm not," he answers. "I consider you my friend. I may be a pain in the ass, but if you ever need someone to talk to…I just want you to know I'm here."

Tears leak from her eyes, and Wally rubs her back absently. The two stay like that until morning.
