The wind howled creating a hollow sound as it whistled in Alice's ear.

Her hand moved slowly and carefully as it traced her name again and again. Her lips mouthed silent words and her eyes stared blankly ahead. Brambles tore her dress weaving around her still figure and her hair whipped across her face.

She was so lost in her visions that she did not register the figure approaching or the harsh scraping of the useless thorns against his marble skin. The metal gate creaked noisily adding an eerie mood to the night. His unspoken footsteps slowly carried him forward, parting the brambles and thorns.

His figure became a still form beside her as he sat, arms wrapped around her. Her body slowly thawed and turned to face him. 'Jasper' She whispered her face a hard mask of emotions.

Jasper slowly touched the stone that held Alice's name, date of birth and supposed death, nothing more. A small grinding sound was heard as dust fell from the rock were his figure touched.

Alice slowly turned back to the stone it now read: Alice. A beloved friend, sister and wife.

The moonlight shone on her pale skin tinting it a cool ice blue. 'Thank you'.
