This place

It was beautiful.

A large, luscious, green field, and Shikamaru was in the centre of it.

Nothing could block his view of the clouds drifting by, save the branches on the tree that provided the perfect shade.

He lied there, arms spread across the field, and a content smile on his face.

"C'mon lazy-ass," a voice came from behind him. "Shove over so I can have some space."

He smirked and moved over.

"I love this place," Temari said as she sat beside him.

"Me too."

She sighed happily. "long green grass for miles around, a gentle breeze touching my face, and a beautiful day warming me up."

Shikamaru chuckled. "Yeah."

She looked at him. "Why do you love this place?"

Shikamaru stayed silent for a while. He got up and leaned back on the trunk of the tree.

"It's because I get to be alone with you."

She giggled and put her head on his lap. He started playing with her hair.

She gave a satisfied sigh as he did so, encouraging him to massage her further.

"I love this place because I can do this to you too."

Temari closed her eyes. "Mmm," she said. "Me too."

Shikamaru smirked again and continued.

"I love this place because you don't care about anything else around you," she said. "Here you seem to always be at peace."

He stopped massaging. "It's because I made it."

She looked up at him. "I know."

A faint ringing began.

She smiled. "Time for you to go."

He smiled back sadly. "Yeah. I'll see you soon then."

Temari gave him a kiss, then began moving back, before everything disappeared.

He slapped the alarm clock and got out of bed, ready to begin another troublesome day.

A soft knock came from his door.

"Hurry up you lazy ass," she said, arms crossed and foot tapping.

Shikamaru yawned. "Good morning to you too."

Her eyebrow lifted. "What's up with you? You're not in your usual grumpy mood today."

He smirked and began walking, signalling her to follow.

"Guess I just had a good night's sleep then."

End.
