The Night-Mare Theory
I came up with a theory about the Night-Mares in the Inkworld. They say that a Night-Mare is the spirit of a bad person who has died that hasn't been accepted into heaven. Instead, they become a creature that roams the Wayless Woods and feeds on the fear of others. In Inkdeath, it says that a Night-Mare was guarding the cage in which Dustfinger's daughter, Brianna, was in. Dustfinger then uses fire to scare off the Night-Mare, but somehow, the creature looks familiar. Dustfinger realizes it's Basta, and burns the Basta Night-Mare. I wasn't too pleased with this, so I came up with my own theory on Night Mares:
First of all, I have the theory that Basta DIDN'T DIE!!!! I think he just faked his own death, so that he can at least try to lead a somewhat normal life, and eventually get married. I have this theory, because I think that Basta's way too cool to die.
The next theory is the Night-Mare theory. The Night-Mare theory is that a Night-Mare represents what you fear most, and in Dustfinger's case, it was Basta. Night-Mares, in my theory, aren't lost souls or rejected dead people, they just look like something/someone else to different people. They probably do wander around the Wayless Wood feeding on fear, but can you really imagine Basta, the Adder, Firefox and the Piper feeding off fear as weird looking creatures that remind me of dogs?
So that's my Night-Mare theory. I had to include the Basta theory for the Night-Mare theory to make sense.
