An H.S. Church original.
'Being a shepherd can be very lonesome,' muttered Kart during his work. The sun was blazing down on him, and when he was done, he had a terrible sunburn. 'Ai,' he said, painfully.
He walked into town to get something to help. The market was small, compared to others in Bistos. For a shepherd like Kart, all of your needs were right in this market. Kart walked up to the medic, and asked him if there was anything for sunburns.
'Ye, here's something. Jest came from the city,' said the medic.
Kart paid and thanked the medic and started for home, when he ran into someone. She dropped her bag, and a few groceries fell out. Kart helped her pick up the groceries, saying sorry. He looked up and noticed how beautiful she looked. She forgave him and he asked what her name was. 'Yuri' she said. And she looked at him. Kart noticed a sense of feeling he'd felt not once before. She asked what his name was. He answered:
'Kart.'
'That's a nice name,' answered Yuri.
'As is yours.' That was all Kart could get out. He managed to get one more thing out: 'Would you like some company on your walk home?'
'That would be nice. Thank you,' she said. They began to walk up the northern path; the same one Kart would take to get home. Surprisingly, she was three houses from his own. They approached the door. It was a small house; about the size of Kart's.
Kart asked if they could meet each other again, and they chose midmorning under the oaks. Kart walked back to his house, feeling a sense of joy.
