a/n: Hiya everyone! My first fanfic on ffn, so be gentle! As you can guess, I'm a huge Jyoumimi fan, but I like other stuff too- like Koyako, and Taiora, and Yamachi, Takari, Daikari, Daiken- any couple that's well written. The only thing I really can't stand is Yamora. It's just bugs me, I guess! Anyways, this is just a tiny bit of fluff, set in 01. Squee! I love 01 Jyou, he's so adorable. I guess it's really just Mimi talking to Jyou about a little bird they found and also about God. I'm not really a religious person, but I decided to write it this way anyways. Not a whole lot, so it's rated G- just a little kiss! I mean, they kiss in disney movies! I hope you like it, look for more soon! Ja ne!
"Oh, look, everyone!" Mimi cried, running over to a little white pile on the ground. Gently scooping it up, she held it tenderly in her gloved hands. She walked over, showing it to the others. "Look, it's a little bird! I think he's dead!" Tears welled up in her large brown eyes. Sora covered her mouth and the others all walked away. The only people left in the clearing were Mimi and Jyou. Jyou walked over and took the little bird from Mimi's hands.
"Don't worry, Mimi. I'm sure he got hurt for a reason. Maybe God needs another little bird to sing in his garden." Mimi tried to blink her tears away but the crystal drops spilled over and ran down her cheeks, much to her dismay.
"But Jyou, why this little bird? He never did anything execpt fly on his little wings." She stroked the small bird's head. "And if God took away his life just so He could hear the little bird sing, well- then God's a big meanie!"
"Mimi, there's a reason for everything." Mimi ran to Jyuo and buried her face in his chest.
"I think God is really mean! Why are we here on this island, in this stupid world, anyway? I hate it here. I just want to go home!" She started crying harder. Jyou wrapped his arms around ehr, holding the bird out so it wouldn't be squashed by Mimi's weight.
"It's okay, Mimi. We'll be okay. I know it doesn't seem like there's areason for us to be here at all, but- but I think, anyway- maybe we're here for a reason, too. And anyway-" he blushed. "If we hadn't come here, I would never have met you, Mimi." She looked up at him in wonder.
"I think you're right, Jyou." And carefully, balancing on her tiptoes, she kissed him lightly on the mouth. Jyou blushed furiously. She took the bird back from Jyou, studying it closely. "Hey- this is a dove, Jyou. Maybe it's a sign to have hope, that we'll really be okay. Maybe it's to show that someone loves us. Somewhere, someone loves us."
"I think someone loves us right here." Jyou carefully wrapped Mimi into another clumsy hug. And they buried the little bird. As the two walked away, hand in hand, Jyou looked back at the freshly-dug soil, and smiled. They were here for a reason after all, he knew it all along. He smiled gently as a little white feather was caught in the wind, swirled around Mimi's heart-shaped face, and rose high up into the cloudless sky.
