Hello! Here's another entry courtesy of the Drabble Tag! Very little changed with this one. Prompts were Girl of the Plains, One Heart, and Loyalty (all songs from the Fire Emblem games, in case you're curious).
Disclaimer: If I owned Pokemon, those double battle partners would always be able to tag along for your adventures too :)
Girl of the Plains
"A bit of fragrance clings to the hand that gives flowers." - Chinese proverb
Cheryl was always a nature-loving person. She adored the woods, fields of flowers, even damp caves and craggy mountaintops. "A girl of the plains", her father had called her, when he had to traverse the wilderness to find where his wayward daughter had gone. For this reason, she received her first Pokemon, a Chansey, early in life. She would wander regardless of whether it was safe or not, so she should at least have a Pokemon by her side to protect her.
Not that she enjoyed battle. Neither did Chansey, so they both tried to avoid it as much as possible. Instead they would play together, and try to befriend any young Pokemon that wanted to join them. Often they would be chased off by the older, less trusting parents of said young Pokemon eventually. It saddened more than frightened Cheryl. But she was smart enough to keep those little misadventures to herself. Chansey, her ever-loyal friend, further helped by tending to any scratches or bruises obtained from the encounter.
Cities always felt so awkward to Cheryl, but nothing felt more unsettling than the local city Pokemon Center. Always crammed with patients, always loud with cries of pain and panic, always so artificial and dirty from the tracks from roaming Trainers. It was so bad that Cheryl soon refused to enter them, preferring to purchase medical supplies from Poke Marts instead. Soon, Cheryl barely entered cities at all. It was rare for her even to enter small towns.
She became almost mythical, the green-haired girl who tended to injured Pokemon, wild or Trainer. She was one heart among cruel nature, but the hurt and ailing could tell you what a different one heart could make!

It's nice being able to write something for Cheryl. There's not a lot of stories about her. Hope you enjoyed, and feel free to leave a review!
