Fujin hadn't liked Rinoa from the start. Now she knew why.
Rinoa was beautiful, and perfect, and everything Fujin could never be. She was smart, with this pretty smile that lit up her eyes, and she even got Seifer to dance! Seifer was hung up on her, and even Raijin agreed that she was gorgeous. Fujin couldn't compete, not in a million billion trillion thousand years.
But Rinoa didn't love him. She was off gallivanting with Squall, the troublemaker, and archenemy of the Disciplinary Committee. Rinoa had spent the whole dance with that wretched boy instead of next to Seifer like a loyal girlfriend. She didn't deserve the honor of having her name linked to his.
No, it isn't breaking his heart, but Seifer deserves much more than that. Fujin wished that she had the approval to beat Rinoa's face in. But she seemed to make Seifer happy, and Fujin supposed that she couldn't ask for more.

"Seifer's gonna hate Squall even more now, you know? Do you see Rinoa dancing with him?"
"BETRAYL!" she scoffs.
"I'm gonna find him. He should see this, you know?" Raijin leaves to go find Seifer.
Fujin had first met Rinoa during the Garden's big break. The three comrades were orphans with no one to hang with except each other. They took a trip to Timber (because it was the cheapest train ride), where Seifer spent most of his time with Rinoa. Fujin and Raijin only met her three days before they had to leave. She was stuck up, bubbly, and a little too upbeat.
She said their names in a singsong voice, always with a smile. She got up in Fujin's face and asked her those pesky personal questions that only two people knew the answers to.
Fujin warned Seifer relentlessly. She tried, tried, and tried some more, the kind of pestering that he'd only take from her.
"Fujin," he chucked, "I'm a big boy. I can do what I want."
And now here they were, Fujin watching Seifer being pulled into the ballroom by Raijin. Rinoa turns away from Squall and comes running towards them.
"Seifer! I've been looking for you! Oh, hello, Raijin, Fujin!" Rinoa tosses her hair over her shoulder. "I've been waiting all night!"
"On the dance floor?"
"Forgive a girl for being anxious. Did I do something wrong?"
Seifer shakes his head. "No. Come on, I'll take you to see Cid. Raijin, Fujin—keep an eye out for any troublemakers."
Fujin watches him walk away with her, and wonders how long it will take for him to stop acknowledging them.

He's dead, Squall told her, and Fujin could feel something quelling deep inside of her. It was Rinoa's fault, Fujin knew it, and she remembered how much she hated the girl.
Seifer? Dead.
Rinoa? With Squall.
She and Raijin?
Seifer would never acknowledge them again.
It was only a matter of time.

I've been writing Kingdom Heart's version of Fujin for so long that I immediately fell in love with the real her when I finally got my hands on FFVIII. This is her being jealous of Rinoa, because Rinoa is stealing Seifer when he so belonged to Fujin before.
I don't own FFVIII.
