Warmth
A thirteen year-old Sakura shivered before running her hands up and down her exposed arms. She had awoken in the middle of night expecting to find her arms and legs blue and frozen solid.
Stifling another spasm of shivers; she glanced around the grassy hillside. Her teammates still slept on; each warm in a jacket of their own.
Suddenly, Sakura felt very stupid. The morning of the start of their mission; Sakura's mother had warned to take a coat because of the cold front coming in. In her eagerness to get to the bridge to have some time alone with her precious 'Sasuke-kun,' Sakura had ignored her warning. Now, she suffered for it.
Scowling, emerald eyes skipped from a sliver-haired to a feathery, raven-haired boy to a drooling blond- haired boy. Naruto was closest to her.
Scooting across the grass and holding back a grimace at the drool; Sakura snuggled to the neon orange of his jacket. A blissful sigh left her lips. The dope was quite soothingly warm.
"I'll…I'll…" The pink-haired kunoichi stared up at her teammate with a raised eyebrow. The boy let out an enormous snore before flipping on to his belly; the motion pushed Sakura away from the warmth of side.
"Naruto! You baka!" Sakura screeched in a hushed whisper. Her reply came in the sound of "…be Hokage!"
Sakura pushed further away from the boy, wondering if he had some sort of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Sakura sighed again while stroking her arms. Using Naruto for shelter from the cold didn't seem to work so, that left Kakashi-sensei and… her jade eyes strayed towards the sleeping raven-haired boy on her left. "Sasuke-kun…"
Carefully, Sakura moved herself across the hillside and next to the boy. He slept using one arm as a pillow; the other was lying across his hip.
Resisting the urge to cuddle herself into and lose all common sense in his scent, she gently pressed her torso to him; rejoicing in the heat radiating off him in waves.
Just as her eyelids were beginning to drop; Sakura let out a silent gasp as an arm wound around her waist. It clutched her closer, keeping a part of Sasuke's black jacket over her side.
"Sleep."
Sakura blinked. When had he woken up? Better yet, why was he...?
"You'll be inefficient on the mission tomorrow if you're still tired." An answer had come even without the question spoken. Sometimes Sakura wondered if Sasuke could read minds…especially hers.
His mouth brushed against her hair sending Sakura's mind into a daze before his low voice dragged her to reality. "Besides that, I'd prefer you not dead."
A silence followed.
"Sasuke-kun?"
One eyes flickered open to stare at her. A heated crimson stain was visible on the pale skin of her cheeks even in the darkness
"Hn?"
"Arigatou."
Done. A used cliché but, I couldn't hold back the urge to write it. –sigh- Poor Naruto never gets much cuddling from Sakura-Chan, does he?
Review if you wish. Flames suffer D-E-L-E-T-I-O-N.
