Happy New Year!

Many shinigami were huddled together outside, watching the flashing lights explode in the sky of the human world, as transfixed as if a couple of hollows started making out. All were in gigais, so they could easily be seen by passerby.
What most passerby wondered was why on earth a group of near adults were so fascinated by fireworks.
Among this group of raucous shinigami was the tenth division caption, Toshiro Hitsugaya, and of course he wasn't cheering at the fireworks.
Hell, he wasn't even watching them.
His icy eyes were transfixed on a sight he found much more lovely than flashing lights in the sky.
Momo.
She was cheering like the rest, her pale cheeks tinged with pink from the cold, and nearly falling over as his busty vice captain tackled the smaller girl in an enormous probably drunken embrace.
He tore his eyes away from the girl to glance down at his watch, something found to be very useful in this world.
The bright green letters read 11:59. If he was planning to act, it would be now.
Toshiro Hitsugaya was all nerves as he shoved through the group of shinigami to reach her.
She looked up, smiling to greet him, but was surprised when she saw his strange expression.
"Shiro, wha--?"
She didn't get to finish her sentence, for just as Toshiro's watch beeped insistently, just as the group around them screamed, "Happy New Year!" at the tops of their lungs, he kissed her. He kissed her until the night sky filled with flashing lights was spinning, and they were both as breathless as if they had run a marathon.
She could only stare at him, wide-eyed as he smirked at her, then brought his lips to her ear and whispered, "Happy New Year, Momo," before disappearing through the crowd.
She then smiled stupidly as she stared at the final firework fading from the sky.
"What a great start of a new year…"
