Rose sat in the captain's chair, slowly swinging her legs back and forth, as she watched the Doctor rip away at a pile of wires.
"You see Rose; this cable can invert any molecular form of lighting, as long as..." Rose tried to drown out his techno babble, but still listen to his sweet voice at the same time.
It wasn't working.
"Doctor," She called out suddenly. It wasn't until he had paused mid-action, and looked over at that Rose realized that she had nothing to say. Wracking her brain for an answer, she stammered something out.
"Are you, uhhh hungry?" She asked, sitting up.
"You know what?" he asked her, and she shook her head 'no'.
"I am." He stated, smiling. Rose smiled back, and hopped from the seat happily.
"What do you want? Oh, no! I have the perfect thing!" She smiled brightly at him, and then ran off for the kitchen, before the Doctor could say another word.
A few minutes later she reappeared, with two full glasses of milk, and a plate stacked with sandwiches. After taking a quick look, the Doctor saw that peanut butter was not only oozing out of the bread, but also was smeared all over Rose.
"Close your eyes!" She commanded, as he walked over to help her carry her load. He did as he was told, freezing in mid-step, clamping his eyes shut, and then sitting down where he was.
He heard Rose sit down next to him, followed by the light clink of glass.
"Now open your mouth." She told him, smiling, even though he couldn't see.
"You know Rose; I've had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, before." He informed her, ignoring her suggestion of opening his mouth.
"In fact, I-" He was cut off by Rose slamming the sandwich into his open –like always- mouth. She giggled, as first a shocked face, then an annoyed face, then a face that said 'oh this is good' showed up on his features.
"Is that," he asked after he had swallowed. "Banana?" Rose nodded, and giggled, happy.
"Do you like it? It's peanut butter and banana. An old Chesterton recipe."
"Oh, I think it's very good." He stated calmly "I- Wait? A what recipe?" He jumped up shocked.
Rose looked up at him with a half amused, half confused smile on her lips.
"Chesterton. It's my mum's madden name. My Grandma Barb made them for me, when we visited them during the summer. She'd slap about a pound of peanut butter onto some bread, then slice up a banana and stick it in. Me and Grandpa Ian would have them while he did little science tricks for me. Gran passed when I was 11 and Granda' when I was 13." Rose finished off bit sad, then looked up at the Doctor to see a quick flash of sadness also flash through his eyes, before an amazed smile took it place.
"You're a Chesterton?" He asked, obviously dazzled by this fact.
"Yea, why?" Rose asked, growing at little alarmed at the Doctor's reaction.
"Oh, nothing, I guess. But it sure explains a lot." Then he picked up another of the banana-peanut butter sandwiches, and took off down the hall giggling.
"Wait! Doctor?" Rose called out, frustrated. "Explain what?" She demanded as she chased after him.
Okay, so I know this isn't really possible as Chesterton isn't Jackies last name, but I liked the idea, so I did it.
