The Messenger
Matthew sat on the bus silently staring out the window as the cars passed by. Everyone so busy, no one having time for a simple greeting to another. He missed his home. Here he was never seen, or recognized. He felt invisible, uncared for, though he knew it wasn't anyone's fault. It just happened to be that way and he'd accepted it.
When you feel you're alone,
cut off from this cruel world
Your instincts telling you to run
Stepping off the bus, he was almost instantly run into by a hurrying traveler., obviously not paying attention, both tumbling to the ground.
"Oh, I'm so sorry sir, I didn't see you there!" the man apologized hastily, "I'm just in a big hurry."
Matthew nodded, "Of course, It's okay." He answered quietly, standing.
The man nodded apologetically and hurried once more on his way. Matthew let out a sigh before walking into the airport to board his flight.
Listen to your heart,
those angel voices
They'll sing to you
they'll be your guide
back home
Bria sighed, walking through the street toward her small home, knowing she'd be alone yet another night. As she made the process of pulling her purse back up over her shoulder, she was knocked back when someone ran by, crashing into her and snatching her purse on the way.
"Hey!" She shouted desperately, hoping he would stop and give her her belongings back, but knowing it was useless. Letting out a low groan, checking her pockets, her phone was still there, she continued on her way home. Realizing that fighting was useless.
When you've suffered enough,
and your spirit is breaking,
your growing desperate from the fight
Arriving at the front door, Bria felt her pockets for her keys only to realize that they'd been in her purse. Throwing herself down on the step, she groaned again, burring her face in her arms, she couldn't help but cry. Quietly on her front step, tears of stress, anger. Why did her life have to hater her so much.
Remember your loved
and you always will be
this melody will bring you right
back home
"Bria, what's wrong?" Matthew asked, seeing his girl crying on the front step, he placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. Her head shot up, eyes meeting his, he gave a weak smile.
"Oh my gosh!" She breathed, "Matthew!"
Bria looked at him in astonishment. After all the bad things of her day, he had to be the only good to come out of it. She threw her arms around him instantly, taking in the sweet sent of maple that surrounded him. Matthew, carefully, hugged her back, squeezing her tightly in reassurance.
"Oh, I didn't think you'd be home for another week," She whispered, not letting go.
Matthew chuckled lightly, "I just couldn't stay away."
