don't own criminal minds and clearly don't know any gun lingo
i have a thing for making Spencer's life hell. takes place during Revelations. things in quotations are spoken in the episode

The Lord spake unto Moses saying "speak unto all of the congregation of The Children of the Lord and say unto them, 'you shall be holy for I the Lord your God am holy.'"
-Leviticus

There was silence. Tobias, or Raphael, or whoever the hell he was at the present state of mind, was gone. But that didn't help Spencer Reid, because he was still tied to the chair, and try as he might, he can't get up. The hours have gone by too slowly and everything is blurry, whether from his lack of food or water, movement, or something else, he doesn't know.

"We're stronger than him, he cannot break you."

A person stops being strong the moment they realize there is no hope left. Spencer Reid realized a long time ago that the team may not arrive in time. He hopes, prays, wishes that if his time comes to an end in this small, dank, dark cabin, that it will not be on camera.

"This'll be over quickly if you just confess your sins."
"I'm not a sinner!"

Everyone is a sinner. Even young, faithless Spencer can understand and accept that. He got a fortune cookie once that said, the saints are the sinners who keep trying. So maybe he, along with the rest of his team, were saints because of how hard they tried to make they tried to make the world a better place.

"You don't have to do this."

There was nothing to do. There was no way to reason with this man, no matter who he was at the moment. The only hope he had was Tobias as himself and even then he was too scared to let Spencer go. Spencer, who had no idea when or how he was going to be saved, tried doing all he could to tell the team his location when the camera was on, finally realized it was hopeless. A large part of him was prepared to die in this hell hole. A small part was scared, and a much smaller part was mad that it took his team so long to find him.

"Your team has six other members, chose one to die."
"What?"

His captures' words rang empty in Spencer's ears. His previous, vicious thought about his team made him feel guilty. He would not sacrifice a team member like this. Not now, not ever.

"Your team members. Choose one to die."

Tobias (or much more likely either his father or Raphael) glared down at the poor man still tied to the chair, waiting for an answer. An answer he won't give, no matter what happens.

"No."

He pulled his gun out. Spencer watched as he spun the cylinder and clicked it back in place. Then he pointed the gun straight at Spencer's face and pulled the trigged. No bullet shot from the gun. Spencer's heart and beat wildly both before and after the gun shot. He glanced at the camera, with its blaring red light. He wished his team would not see this heart stopping moment.

"Choose."
"No."

This time when the gun went off, and a bullet went with it. Spencer's team miles away, watching the video, all screamed in unison. The brains they had all taken for granted were now splattered on the ground and wall. There were tears falling so suddenly it was almost frightening. The force of the bullet forced the young Spencer back, and he plus his chair fell backwards onto the floor. No amount of wishing could change what happened in the last eight seconds. Spencer Reid did not have to die a hero.

"There will be no more wishing."
-Hayley Taylor, No More Wishing
