Prologue: Dangerous Pride! The Darkness' Proposal
It was a place of rolling fields and still lakes. The light came from everywhere and nowhere at the same time, bathing those who dwelled there in pure white light.
There should have been no shadows there, but now an intruder had chosen to trespass.
"It would really be quite simple this way. Should you choose to—"
"You would dare to threaten the Holy Beasts, Demon?" Jijimon demanded.
"I was merely stating a fact. I have served my sentence, and now your options are fairly limited."
"I don't zink you quite understand vat you are demanding," Babamon protested.
"I understand very well, old woman."
"No." She shook her head. "Vis isn't possible. Zere is a delicate balance zat must be maintained at all costs."
"Balance?" Demon scoffed. "What balance can there be when the Light has no opposition? It is my duty to fix that."
"You'll bring disaster down on all our heads!" Jijimon snapped. "Demon, you are an aberration and what you propose to do is an insult to everything we stand for. You didn't learn anything during your imprisonment and the Holy Beasts should never have released you."
"Vat you request cannot be allowed to happen," Babamon said. "I'm sorry."
Demon's eyes narrowed. "No, you're not sorry. Yet. But you will be."
Once he was gone, Jijimon and Babamon said nothing for a few minutes.
Then Babamon asked, "Vat do you suppose he meant by saying zat ve'll be sorry?"
Jijimon shrugged. "I don't think we should be worried about it. He's all talk and no action."
