Kylo awoke with a start.

Something felt...Different?

No.

Something was wrong.

Suddenly he was up.

His heart felt like it was being torn apart.

Stumbling, he dressed, clutching his helmet and his saber, not bothering to put them on. Instead merely clinging to them, in desperate need of their familiarity.

He half opened, half crashed through his door and threw himself forward, gaining speed as he ran through the hallways to the only room he could find solace in, and answers to his burning questions.

Sweat pours off of him as he reached his destination. Panting, he leaned against the wall, pushing open the door and going inside, locking it behind him.

He made it to the middle of the room before he collapsed to his knees, dropping his helmet and hilt, the helmet rolling away from him slightly.

Clutching at his chest with one hand, his other on the solid pedestal before him, his head hanging he whispered into the darkness. "Grandfather...please. Tell me it isn't true."

Nothing at first. It gave him hope. Maybe he was wrong. Maybe it was just a nightmare...something that could be pushed away and ignored, like everything else in his life. But then, a wave of crushing certainty washed over him, drowning him in the silence.

His jaw dropping, he nodded, unable to hold back the tears.

"I...I understand grandfather." He stammered out, clutching his chest tighter as he leaned his head against the table in front of him before allowing his tears to turn to sobs.

His mother was gone.

Through out the entire galaxy, he was truly alone.

There was no one left to save him.

And wrapped tightly in this realization, falling sideways onto the stone, cold floor, his struggle ended.

The Dark Side finally won

Author's Note:

This was something that came to me not long after I heard about Carrie Fisher's passing. After I stopped crying I wrote it down. Constructive criticism is appreciated on any work I publish here, however please note that this one was emotion driven and therefore not meant to be "perfect". This is also a one shot, mostly because I don't think I could go any further with it, nor does it need more.

Thank you for reading. I sincerely hope you enjoyed it.

Lastly, rest in peace Miss Carrie Fisher. You were an idol then, you're an idol now, and you are missed, and loved, through out the galaxy. May the Force be with you and all who loved you.
