The entire Great Hall was full. The whole school had gathered for
tonight's Hogwarts Karaoke. Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Ginny sat at a table
for four near the center of the room. Butterbeer was flowing freely, and
everyone was anxious for the show to start. Harry promised himself he
wouldn't make a fool of himself tonight, like he had last week, but there
was no telling. Suddenly, the tankards of butterbeer filled themselves,
the lights dimmed, and Lee Jordan took the stage. The show was about to
start.
"Ladies and Gentlemen welcome back to Hogwarts Karaoke. I hope we
have some adventurous kids out there tonight, and maybe even some teachers
. . ." A spotlight danced over the high table. The teachers all shook
their heads. Lee continued. "And now, without further ado, I open
Hogwarts Karaoke!" He put the mic back in its stand and went to sit down.
The stage stood empty for a moment, then Lavender Brown got up. The first
few chords started playing, and she laughed. It was "Girls Just Wanna Have
Fun" by Cyndi Lauper. She began to sing.

Lavender was dancing around the stage, having taken the microphone off its stand. She jumped off the 2-foot high stage and was walking from table to table.

She got back up on the stage and started the audience clapping to the beat. Hermione leaned over to Ron and said, "She's quite a performer, isn't she?" He nodded. Harry watched her with rapt attention.

Hermione looked at her for a minute, then whispered to Harry, "Is it just me, or is she looking at you?" Harry didn't say anything.
