Birthday Present

It was a big surprise for Wallace, when someone rang on his door. He opened and found you in front of him, making a somehow disappointed face.

Remembering that today was your birthday the gym leader took you into an embrace saying: "Happy Birthday, Honey!"

You smiled a little at that. Wallace was a good friend of yours and Steven Stone and always knew how to cheer you up a little. That's why you were here now.

Letting you in, Wallace asked: "How can I help you?And where is Steven?"

At the last question, he seemed to be a bit angry, probably already knowing where his best friend was.

"Well, you see, it seems like our beloved champion doesn't think we are as important as his hobby", you said bitterly.

You arrived in the living room, sitting down onto the couch, sighing to yourself, looking slightly depressed.

Your friend sighed knowing his friend too well. "Oh dear! That man is so troublesome sometimes."

You nodded, agreeing to his statement. It wasn't the first time, that the stone fanatic had left you alone a whole day, though it was the first time on your birthday.

And you didn't have anyone else to spend the time with that day. Your parents were on a trip to other regions. Even your best friend was on her way to Sinnoh. Thus only Wallace and Steven were left for you to spend your birthday with.

Wallace sat down next to you and smiled at you optimistically. "I'm sure he has his reasons", he said, laying his hand onto yours comfortingly.

You sighed again. "We'll see about that", you then said.

Wallace shook his head and stood up. "Do you want something to drink?", he asked. You just nodded, staring onto the table in front of you.

The whole day you spent with Wallace talking with him about this and that trying not to remember Steven was missing, even though it was your birthday.

You would forget as Wallace took a walk with you through Sootopolis City. You walked and talked, greeted some of the inhabitants and watched your Pokémon play with each other, after you let them out of their Pokéballs.

All in all you thought it was a good idea spending the day with Wallace, as long as Steven wasn't there. You did that often and it always cheered you up a little, when it depressed you that your lover left you without saying for a whole day – even though he just forgot to mention.

The sun began to set when you and Wallace arrived at Wallace's home again. It wasn't long after, when suddenly the doorbell rang.

"You wait here a moment",Wallace said, as you sat onto the couch again. You could hear Wallace open the door. You couldn't understand what he said, but he seemed to be a bit surprised.

The door was closed and two pairs of footsteps approached the living-room.

You blinked surprised as you looked up and saw no other then Steven in the door frame. "Look who honours us with a visit", Wallace chuckled behind the champion.

"Steven! What are you doing here?", you asked already going to stand up. The champion motioned you to keep sitting and sat next to you.

"I could ask you the same", he said, smiling at you amused. "You were gone when I woke up! And since it didn't seem like you would come back any time soon I went to Wallace", you defended yourself.

The champion chuckled amused and put something out of his pocket.

You narrowed your eyes as you watched him curious at what he had there. Then Steven came closer to you and as he leaned back again and you looked down, you saw a necklace around your neck, with a small pendant on it. The pendant was a small, blue glowing stone surrounded by a silver ring.

"Happy Birthday my dear [Name]", Steven whispered smiling as you looked up at him and planted a loving kiss onto your forehead. Slightly blushing you whispered a small 'thanks' and smiled at the champion happily. It seemed like you were more important to him than you thought after all.
