Chapter 1:
Black Cat Crossing
Felance walked with a heavy step his world none the less, amble with the weight of a lost evening. Gage had rambled his hours away again with talk of vengeance of false promises the vampires would overrule the lycans like they had 'been born to do.' Felance knew better. He'd known Gage even as their leader could have never carried a war to victory, not yet anyway. The night was stained with the damp stench of rain though even midst its steamy taste the scent soothed his 'inner kitty.' He liked the rain, the spring drizzle when the city went neutral and all sound had melted to a quiet patter upon the glass windows of the apartments. Lone as he was there wasn't a day he would regret his self time.
Footsteps were the only echo among the alley as the vampire walked his dreary ebony hair hung across one eye, silver streaks visible among the distant flickering light. Golden eyes so brilliant flicked along the shadowed company catching what was true to thrive under life's oath and what was simply a trickster object, but there was one inky figure, distant true, but definite within the distance. A light, airy innocent voice burned through the fearful black, pulsing so tenderly to his ears there was no denying his immediate curiosity. It was a soft hum, a youths chirping he could guess accurate, that had lured him past his normal route and stepping threw a half torn fence to find a solo body perched among an air-conditioner. She was indeed young, he could assume in her teen years, a pony of long golden hair falling over her right shoulder to pour among her combing fingers. She had the posture, the wear of a rough and tough girl but even so had a gentle beauty that even made the unpenetrable Felance twitch to smile.
He was still hidden among a small pile of boxes a shadow casting away all but the duel specs that glittered as she continued, but soon fiery green eyes darted back to catch that dazzling gold. There was silence, neither spoke nor moved but watched her body stiff, and still his the same. With one mindless draw of the air she knew then what he was though his mind had already picked her out before then. He moved, she moved, he stopped and so did she but as he then began to speak her lips quivered her balled breath loose.
"You have a beautiful voice…" He whispered, purring that rich voice so smoothly the girl could already feel tingles course her recently numb body.
She could up a single word and by then her head- her mind went frantic in a certain panic. A deep scarlet already settled on her sun kissed cheeks and she had no choice but to tear an embracing gaze from the man.
"Thanks…" Her voice but a light whisper could still be heard with the lending hand of his immortality contract. He came with an ability to see and to hear at higher levels than a mortal being leaving all so much easier.
She fiddled with a loose strap midst a moment then turned back to the still motionless man standing just below her. Well, she couldn't ignore he was there, she didn't want to either. His being was indeed soft to the eyes and his voice…his voice a charming one that she dreamed-longed to hear muffled among a hot whisper in her ear. Her face was still burning by now likely from her free for themselves, thoughts but now she hadn't cared, well posed as so, launching herself from the conditioning box to the ground below. When she stood, wobbly so, her recondition to his height was immediate as well, his body a lean tall and something for a good fascination of what tensed beneath the clothes. Her eyes wandered to his face outlining the riddles that left an emotionless blank about him she could faintly catch.
"Anna," she began "Anna Knightly."
