Roxas loved everything about the rain. He loved the sounds of a million drums; drum, drum, drumming against the window, against the roof, against his skin; a continuous rhythm — never ending, mesmerizing. He loved the way rain looked; a thousand million stars, all of the stars falling from the sky to race towards the ground and to their brilliant finale before melding into a single entity. He loved to sit inside while it rained, curled up with a blanket and Axel, a voyeur of the windows, his eyes glued to the streaming rivulets desperately trying to cling to the glass. He loved to dance in the rain, cold water slapping against his skin, hair pasted to his forehead and clothing clinging to his body – the wonderful sense of being alive. He loved the pure romanticism of rain and the feelings of vague nostalgia it would bring him.

Roxas was a romantic child. Everything philosophical, rhetorical and artistic entranced him, which was why the only thing he loved more than rain and art and books and life was Axel. This pyromaniac of living poetry and sin incarnate had him addicted and craving for more. He loved the way Axel reminded him of summer: eyes grass green emerald and hair of burning flames like when the sky would set the horizon on fire before it slunk begrudgingly behind the kills; the stuff of poetry and romance novels. He couldn't get enough of the man's sinfully prefect body, all lean muscle and hard planes, sensuality and grace.

Ocean met grass and Roxas smiled, his thoughts snapping back to the present. The summer promising green mesmerized him as he always was by Axel – his Axel. His gaze traveled to the fourth finger on his left hand encircled with a thick band of white gold, a sapphire in the center surrounded by rubies. When Axel had given it to him, he had said he was the center of his world, his sapphire, his blue diamond. Roxas called him a romantic sod and kissed him, murmuring yes against his mouth.

Roxas snuggled closer into Axel's side; still admiring the way the ring glinted in the dim light coming from the rain streaked windows.

"Having second thoughts?"

Roxas glanced up to find Axel smirking down at him. He tilted his head up for a kiss. "Never."

"Good. 'Cause we're gonna have so much fun."

"We've a whole lifetime together for fun." Roxas felt Axel smile against his lips and his strong arms pulling him closer.

"Yes, baby, forever. Got it memorized?"

I want to thank you

Oh just to be with you
is having the best day of my life

A/N: I'll leave the interpretation up to you.

This is not going to be a happy fic. This is just the prologue. More later.
