Never-ending pain
Shadow looked into the night sky. Sighing, he looked behind him as a lithe figure made her way up to him. "Yes, what do you want, Vixen?" He said dully. A black furred fox with blue eyes sat down next to Shadow. "Why do you always isolate yourself from other people? Especially me? Am I a bother or something?" Vixen quietly asked. Shadow sighed again. "You just remind me of…Maria." He took in a deep breath. "I was created by her grandfather, Professor Ivo Robotnik. Maria was the one who took care of me, made sure I was safe, everything. Then that horrible day Maria got…murdered by the G.U.N agents. She locked me in the escape pod, but she got shot. Maria's very last words to me before she died were, Sayonara, Shadow the Hedgehog." He finished with tears welling up in his eyes.
Vixen took Shadow into her arms and he cried on her shoulder. "This is never-ending pain, Vixen. Once you feel it, the pain never goes away!" He sobbed out. She smiled sadly at him. "Shadow, I know how you feel. My parents abandoned me when I was a couple days old. A man by the name of Striker took me into his hospitality and raised me. When I was at least twelve, Striker suffered from pancreatic cancer and died a couple of months after my thirteenth birthday. I miss him, but he lives in my heart, where I can always hear his voice. Maria lives in your heart." Right after Vixen said that, they both heard Maria's and Striker's voices. Don't cry, my two beloved. We will remain with you, always…
