This was going to be the prologue to chapter 2 of Stupid Squirrels, but it seemed a bit too heavy for the light comedy I was trying to go for.
So here's a little one-shot about how the twins feel about the pranks they pull.
G1. Sunstreaker & Sideswipe. Oneshot.
Thinking of new pranks was always a challenge, but it was one that the two Cybertronian twins would quite happily rise to meet.
Over their past few stellar cycles on Earth, the two miscreants had produced a number of innovative and creative practical jokes that had either had them thrown in the brig for insubordination, or prompted pats on their backs for giving everyone something to laugh about.
They, neither of them, knew where the line stood that separated the two polar opposite reactions, but it was all the same to them. As long as the crew got a kick out of it, it was worth it.
Sunstreaker and Sideswipe had always idolized the way that Jazz was able to lift everyone's spirits. The certain unnameable charm he exuded was more than enough to put a smile on anyone's faceplates, and he did so without much effort on his part; or at least that's what it looked like.
The twins recognized the seriousness of the war. What it meant if they lost; the number of deaths would be innumerable, the chaos that would erupt would be unthinkable.
However, they realized that without laughter and happiness the war would be for naught anyway.
The Decepticons would win by the simple fact that they would have destroyed the very way of life that they were trying to protect.
No one really gave them enough credit for their combined processing power.
That was why they did what they did. They made people laugh. Made them forget the seriousness of their circumstances. Made them feel emotions other than the cool calm façade that one adopted on the battle field.
And while neither could ever hope to exhibit that same prowess and skill that Jazz had to quite easily and directly make someone grin, they did have one thing; pranks.
Something so simple, and some would say juvenile, helped ease the tension of war and take some of the load off.
This was their way of coping, and helping others to cope too. It wasn't much, but it was something.
And that was enough for them.
