A/N The story is told from both of their points of view.

Draco's Heart

It was the beginning of the 6th year at Hogwarts. Malfoy was preparing to leave at home. He had recently gone out shopping with his mother. She had insisted that he buy new dress robes and of course, she had picked them out. A high black collar, with long sleeves just reaching the floor and the inside was of red silk. Draco hated shopping and usually was just there on show. His whole family made the outing usually for appearances only. However, something this year had caught his eye. He had been glancing in the potions section of the bookstore when he saw her. That radiant creature he had longed for since the first year. Her long bushy hair was now wavy with a beautiful shine. Her eyes were darting everywhere, searching for something not yet known, even to her. She must have blossomed over the summer, because nothing this beautiful could happen so fast. His mother had even commented on her, she asked Draco who this girl was. When he explained that it was Hermione Granger, she just scoffed and took back her comment. Draco however had not been able to get the picture out of his mind. He had always felt this way, torn between his love and the Dark Lord.

"Draco dear," his mother called. "Are you up there?"

"Yes mother," Draco answered.

"Come down and get your new school books and potion refills," she called up in a motherly tone. He walked down as ordered and was meet by his father on the grand staircase.

"Draco," his fathers voice always seemed to have some kind of hidden meaning. "I hope this year at school you will work hard. Maybe this year you will even beat the horrid Mudblood Granger."

"I will try father," he answered

"I hope that you will do more than just try, my son. I hope that you succeed and do that by any means," he said ruthlessly.

Draco was often bothered by his fathers voice at times. He had always wanted a loving caring father. Sometimes even wanting someone like Ron's father, he would never admit that though. How was he supposed to beat the one person he had feelings for? Nevertheless, the bigger question that always seemed to haunt him was if she would ever share his feelings.

Hermione had just finished her day of shopping. She had seen Ron and Harry at Joggers Racing Brooms but had barely gotten a word in. Things had been fine when they were younger, but now that they were older, they talked more and more about Quiditch and brooms. It wasn't like they did it on purpose; it was just how it was. During the fifth year, she had spent much time in the library, looking up new spells and potions. During her long evenings, she often saw Malfoy and always wondered why he of people would be there. He had sometimes tried to talk to her but she usually just kept working. He would eventually give up and as he walked away, she would steel a glance.

"Honey, are you almost ready," Hermione's father called up to her.

"Uh Huh, " she called. They were just preparing to leave for the Hogwarts express. She was just gathering the last of her things. She took one glance around her room before hurrying downstairs. She had no idea what was in store for here this year. But she was sure that it would be exciting no matter what.

Draco was standing by the door just preparing to leave for school. His mother was all over him, giving him extra goodies for the long ride there. His parents never took him to the station themselves. They always had a house elf do it. It never really bothered him but sometimes he just wanted them to. Maybe at least he would see Hermione on the station Platform?
