Chapter 1: Who Should I Tell?

This story is based on my friend's actual life, so...enjoy! I have her permission for this story and I hope you guys like it. The title is a spoiler, but the journey is a mystery. P.S. She still hasn't become his girlfriend so the story may pause at one point as her life develops.

The school bell buzzed. Hitori and her best friend, Ayame (me!) walked through the school halls as all of the people filled the area. It was finally time for lunch! The day was already one-third of the way over! Everyone was anxious to get out of the horrifying, sweltering classrooms. Yet, something didn't feel right. It was a foreboding feeling, sort of like the calm before the storm. Hitori's stomach churned in anxiety at the possibilities of why she was feeling this way. It wasn't her time of month nor was she seriously ill and in need of a doctor. Her friend wasn't in those boats either. So what was bothering her?

It was after she sat down in the cafeteria that she remembered her problem. Her-"Hey!" Her train of thought was interrupted when Ayame waved her hand in Hisako's face. "Earth to Hisako! Are you there?" Said girl grunted and pushed the immature girl's hand out of her face. Ayame pouted at her and then hugged her. "You okay? I know you're worried about something. I'm your best friend. You can tell me, right?" Once again, she made this irresistible pouty face. The people nearby shot her a dirty or lust-like look.

Hisako sighed. It was impossible to not fall for the face she was making. "I'm fine, Ayame. Besides, if something bothered me, I would tell you!" She gave her the best fake smile she could muster. Her friend gave her a disbelieving look before sitting down on their lunch table.

"Hey, how's it going?" Temari asked Hisako. She freaked out as two hands touched her shoulder. After seeing it was her other excitable friend, she sighed in relief. She breathed in and out. At least she didn't let her secret out. She would have to hold it until Halloween. It would upset her best friend. Even though it was the month of September and they were one week into the school year, they had become closer than sisters. It would be a shame to see her usually lively face sad. After all, the week she was-

"Shikamaru noticed me today!" Temari interrupted her. Hisako growled. When was she ever going to hold release her thoughts? This was going to break her one day and it definitely wouldn't be after All Hallow's Eve. It would probably be around some other holiday whose name she forgot. Its not like she even celebrated them. It was pointless to remember them. Yet, what she was about to reveal would create a bridge between her friends and what was about to happen. And if Hisako's thoughts were accurate, there would be no going back. It was either this or standing in the shadows. It was time she shone to her full potential and she would not let anyone stop her, not even her best friends.
