In this world everyone has a string of fate connecting them to the people they will be spending the rest of their life around. The color usually represents their friendship. Red is romantic, blue is a form of eternal understanding, yellow is someone you just kind of got stuck with, orange means rivalry(in some cases, that can be for someone else's attention too), and so on.

Re-meeting Ran:

You want to know the biggest downside to these strings? You can't hide from anyone you are bonded to.

"Shinichi?" Ran asks in confusion as she looks over the desk and see the now little me.

I sigh, looking down at the bring red string between our hands. "Yeah."

Meeting Hattori:

12 years. It had been twelve years since I met another one of my strings, and of all times I have to meet the next one now?! When I'm undercover? When I'm six?

The fates hate me, don't they?

When Hattori first saw where the string was leading, he was a bit annoyed. He had come to the agency looking for "Kudo" so the idea of finding the only one he was connected to there was a kid was a bit disappointing. (He was connected to Ran with a pale orange string too, but that was less unexpected. He was bound to run into his rivals beloved fairly often throughout life.) He got over it quickly though, and was very friendly for a bit.

When I turned back temporarily, it was obvious he didn't miss the connection though. The same deep blue string that had connected him to Conan was also connecting him to Kudo. Later after I had returned to my tiny form, he dragged me away.

I knew there was no way around the string, so I answered pretty quickly. After a quick explanation, he laughed. At first he was annoying but after he got the amusement out of his system he was actually pretty cool. Offered to invite me to his next case and everything so that I wouldn't be stuck under Mouri's shadow all the time.

I guess it could be nice to have more friends.

Meeting the detective boys:

Walking into class for the first time, the three delighted yells were hard to miss. It was even harder to miss getting tackled, but I did manage that.

Each one of the three kids had grabbed onto my right hand soon after though. I looked down-and sure enough, three strings in pink, purple, and green greeted my eyes. As annoyed as I was by the fact that I was now literally stuck with these three forever, this explains why those strings appeared later than the others at least.

Re-meeting Sonoko:

She was still laughing. She took one look at the yellow string that was linking us and fell over laughing! It was not that funny.

"I always told you that those cases would cut years off your life, but I didn't think it would be this literal-or reversible." She told me later, after she had calmed down.

It still wasn't funny.

Meeting Kid:

After he had vanished, all I could think was 'Great. Permanently stuck to an internationally wanted theif.'

Wait, how does HE hide his identity from his strings? There is no way I'm the only person at his heists he is connected to.

Meeting Sera:

Ran and I had tried hard to forget that string. The pretty violet one that had come into our lives and left without a work when we were kids. I had nearly completely blocked it from my memory when she reappeared.

Looking down at me was the least effeminate teenage girl I had ever seen.

"Found you Mr. Wizard."
