Bars Between Us
I can reach through the bars to you,
But I cannot pull you free,
To me.
I can see your face,
Hear your voice,
Touch your hand.
Sometimes I wonder if you'd understand
What you mean to me
But cannot be.
And now you're gone; you've broken free.
Without me.
And though I'm thankful,
Still I rage;
I'm choking here inside my cage.
