Brown eyes gazed over the roaring crowd of people. They shouted insults and threats alike; they condemned him and his family-they damned them. The thick rope around hit throat itched, a never ending reminder of what was to come. Yet he did not shed a tear, only slumped his shoulders slump in defeat. But his father, his father cursed, and threatened. He swore to kill that bastard with his own hands, promising him a sort of karma-only ten fold.

The eldest Auditore glanced at his father. He didn't understand why he did not just accept it-accept death. He had to have known it was coming, if not sooner, than later. Federico sighed, ignoring the raging crowd and anger filled shouts of his father as he scanned over the crowd again. He spotted his baby brother, and couldn't not help but smile. He could only hope that Ezio would live on and take care of their mother and sister-perhaps continue on the line.

His eyes continued their search for that one person he didn't expect, but hoped, would be there. Federico's gaze landed on that of a blue hat, bobbing up and down with in the crowd. His throat constricted as his heart pounded against his chest. He had came-to see him; to see him die. The two made eye contact, Vieri's glare still sinister as ever-even as he wait at deaths door. Federico could not help but to smile, his hair hanging in his face. Even then, after all the rejections, punches, cuts, and crude words-he still came to see him, to say good bye.

Vieri's lips tugged down, his eyes going wide with what seemed to be worry. Federico smiled more, assuring his love that all would be fine. That they both would be fine. The eldest Auditore could faintly hear the reading of the charges. He merely locked eyes with Vieri, hoping that the one phrase he wished most to say would somehow, by the grace of god, make its way across to the other.

The wood beneath his feet suddenly gave out-he sucked in a deep breath, anticipating pain. His head snapped forward, and all went black.
