So I felt like I really needed to post something and have hit a roadblock in Red Wings. I decided that I should work on this little thing that has ben languishing on my Drive for AGES. If I get a review asking me to, I will continue, but if not, I win't because I have other stuff to do. Sorry.
The slight girl trotted happily up to the gates of Camelot, glad to have reached the citadel at long last. Her raven-black hair blew slightly in the breeze, her brilliant blue eyes glinting happily in the sunlight.
She nodded to the guard that was babysitting the drawbridge. He let her pass, acknowledging her nod with one of his own.
She trotted through the Lower Town, occasionally asking the random strangers how to find Gaius the physician. She slowly made her way up to the citadel and, when she arrived, was hopelessly lost.
She wandered through the castle for a while, but everyone she came across was very busy doing something else and didn't have time to help her.
She meandered onto a grassy field where men in armor were fighting. She guessed, correctly, that this was the training field. She ran into a handsome brown-haired man who offered to take her where she needed to be, because she was 'obviously lost and in need.'
Normally, her pride would impede her ability to accept this man's help, but now she really needed someone to take her to Gaius, so she shoved her pride and let the man lead her.
He introduced himself as Gwaine and was not silent for the entire walk, alternately flirting and blabbering on about random things that caught his attention.
When they reached Gaius's door, Gwaine walked in as well, explaining as he went in with her that he had a friend here and wanted to see him.
The girl smiled. "Hey, Uncle Gaius!"
Gaius glanced up. "Kestrel! What brings you here? Merlin! Come here!" The last part, he aimed over his shoulder as he drew the young lady onto a bear hug.
A crashing sound emanated from the room in the corner, and a ruffled-looking young man emerged from said room.
A brilliant smile exploded on Kestrel's face and she squirmed out of Gaius's surprisingly-firm grip, racing over to the newly-emerged man. With a squeal of childish delight, she embraced Merlin with a hug of bear-like proportions.
"Kestrel! What are you doing here?" Merlin asked, smiling at the girl.
"Mother sent me to you, said I needed to spend more time with my family. Plus, it was getting rather boring in Ealdor without you" Kestrel explained, still wrapped up in the hug.
"Well of course it was, Will and I were the only reason that town had any excitement at all!" Merlin exclaimed with a reminiscent smile.
Gwaine was now beyond confused. Who was this girl? He cleared his throat awkwardly.
"Hey, Gwaine! I'd like you to meet my sister, Kestrel. She's my twin, but I'm older." Here he stuck out his tongue out at his twin.
"Hey! You know that it was only a few minutes!" Kestrel defended, and it dawned on Gwaine that this was a well-worn-out argument.
"It doesn't matter! You are both [insert age here] so deal with it!" Gaius interrupted before the argument could get out of hand, as it had often done before.
"Sorry, Gaius," the two twins chorused in unison.
"Merlin! You never told me you had a twin!" Gwaine exclaimed.
A look of confusion crossed Merlin's face. "I didn't?" He asked, befuddled.
"...No. You didn't." Gwaine repeated.
"...Huh." Merlin said, not knowing any other way to respond.
"Did you ever tell Arthur?" Gwaine asked curiously.
"Actually, now that I think about it, no." As a thought struck Merlin, he paled. "Oh, he will be so mad..."
THE END!
