FMA Single Sentence Ficlets 1
Disclaimer: I don't make any money from anything I write. In fact, I often lose money because I have to buy research material. Research material being the manga, the anime, and my internet connection.
A/N: Well, I have read plenty of these before, and so I wanted to try my hand at it. Writing these is a lot harder than I had originally thought, though I am usually the master of the run-on sentence. However, I know that if she were to read these, kurahieiritr JIO would just cringe in terror! I may or may not continue with these. Like I said, they're hard! What's really sad, considering how badly these sentences run on and on and on, is that as a whole, they read at the 16th grade level.
Absolution
"These boys coming into our lives must be God's way of forgiving me for my sin," Izumi murmured wistfully to her husband as they stood in the doorway watching the two tow-headed brothers sleep, getting their first real full night's rest after their ordeal on Yock Island in a room that she had taken a month to prepare just for them.
Happy Place
"I am here with you right now because you're safe and familiar," Edward said, unable to speak above a whisper as his breath was currently being crushed out of him by his emotionally overwhelmed, dark-haired commanding officer, who was holding the teen in a bear hug in an attempt to prevent him from escaping ever again, though he knew, through his long association with the blond, that the young alchemist could never truly be tamed.
Rescue
Edward closed his eyes and took a deep breath through his nose, holding it for only a few seconds before letting it slowly escape from his mouth, delighting in the familiar surge of energy that coursed through his body once his palms had made contact with each other, closing and activating the circle he had in mind, the circle that would let him open a makeshift doorway into the near airless prison his younger brother, Alphonse, a boy who was only a soul attached to a suit of armor, was being held in, without the means to create an array of his own.
Mother 2.0
The moment that he returned her hug as they knelt together in the yard was the moment that Edward acknowledged, if only to himself, that Izumi had taken over a part in the place in his heart that he had reserved exclusively for his deceased mother, Trisha, and also the moment that he first allowed himself to express genuine filial affection toward the older woman, a woman who had taken in two orphaned strangers out of the goodness of her heart, a heart that he just learned was as battered by tragedy as their own.
Everlasting
Being nearly immortal sucked was the conclusion that Envy had come to after having spent hours trying again and again to end his miserable existence by repeatedly dragging a razor blade across his wrist to no avail.
All Grown Up
When she heard her name, Riza looked up from her desk and stared hard at Edward, suddenly seeing him in a completely new light and finding it difficult to convince herself that the handsome twenty-year-old man standing before her had once been the same hopeless, broken child she had met all those years ago when she and Mustang went to Resembool in search of new alchemists, the same child she always saw on her mind's eye when she looked at the blond, though she had watched the boy grow up, even if only from a distance.
