Third person POV
It's been two years since the war ended. Draco Malfoy was currently laying in his bed face in his pillow crying. After the war ended he lost everything. His father was put on trial and his entire life was advertised. He hated the attention. His father was one of his least favorite people. He thought that his life was pretty much over until he received a knock on his door.
Malfoy's POV
"Go away!" I said muffled by the pillow.
"Mr. Malfoy you don't really think that will work do you?" Minerva McGonagall asked.
I snapped my head up and got out of bed. I grabbed my robe and put it on as I walked to the front door.
As I open the door I peaked out at her. "Ms. McGonagall?" I ask.
"Yes Mr. Malfoy it is I may I come in?" She asks with her hands clasped in front of her.
"Of course pardon my lack of manners." I say opening the door for her to enter.
She walked in just as regal as she was the last time I saw her. She looked around my small apartment and sighed.
"Sorry for the mess I wasn't expecting company." I say like I was back in school.
"It's alright. I was just stopping by to ask you a question." She says turning to look at me
"I haven't been at Hogwarts since the war ended. What could you possibly have to ask me?" I said leaning against the wall crossing my arms.
Minerva sat down on the couch and pushed her glasses up on her nose. She made direct eye contact with me which is unnerving. "Mr. Malfoy while you have not been at Hogwarts for the past two years your name still roams the halls." She said never breaking eye contact. "The students are marveled by your heroic actions. So in light of that I would like to offer you a position as the positions teacher and head of Slytherin house." She said standing up and standing right in front of me.
"Ms. McGonagall while I am flattered do you really think it is wise to offer me this position. I am an ex death Eater and labeled as a traitor." I say standing up straighter.
"Mr. Malfoy if it was not wise I wouldn't have suggested it now would I?" She says peering over the rim of her glasses.
I look at her and a small smile appears on my face. "Alright I'll think about it." I say putting my hands up in surrender.
"Thank you. I must be getting back now can't wait to see you when school starts again." She said walking to the door and turning around. "Oh and Mr. Malfoy Mr. Potter will be joining us as the new transfigurations teacher." She finished walking out the door before I could say anything.
I stood there looking at the door as she left. I hadn't talked to Potter since a few months after the war. I walked into my office and sat down at my desk. This was the only place that wasn't cluttered.
I took out a paper and a quill and ink. I dipped my quill in the ink and started writing.
Dear Potter,
I know we haven't talked in a while but I got a visit from McGonagall recently. She offered me a position as the potions teacher and head of Slytherin house. She also told me that you would be starting as the transfigurations teacher. I'm not sure if I should take the position. I don't know why I'm telling you this. I'm sure you hate me. I don't even expect a response from this. If you don't respond I guess we'll see what I decide when school starts.
Sincerely
Malfoy
