The slight click of a button caused her to turn around partly due to her sense, she was met with a flash that caused her to freeze before the smiling woman behind it stepped closer wrapping an around around her neck. Camera in hand.

'Damn it Kiara..' she mumbled but smiled at the antic.

"My little sister has finally been caught off guard!" The redhead declared proudly. It had been since Rebecca was a little girl that Kiara managed to sneak a picture of her off guard. After the first few months of it Rebecca caught on and developed a whole new sense for her sisters deliberate acts such as that.

Rebecca huffed but interrupted, "Actually," She removed her sisters arm and put it back to her side and gave her a smile. "I was thinking you big floof." Kiara rose an eyebrow and nodded.

Thinking? That was one way to put it. She was procrastinating the paperwork and procrastinating to reveal the news to her sister that she of course was not going to be able to pick her nieces up tomorrow for that party because of work. She knew her sister would understand after all she was an officer too, but she knew her nieces of five would be disappointed. Aunt B or rather Aunt Beccy was the one who would take them everywhere they wanted (sometimes behind mom's back) while mommy set up everything. Team effort? Well frankly she hated thinking of the frowns on those cute pinchable cheeks, and more than likely dirt filled blonde hair (the girls had a talent for digging in the dirt,) Thinking of it now she giggled at the sight in her head.

"It's alright you know." Kiara smiled knowingly at her. Sometimes Kiara just seemed to read her mind. "They won't mind. Besides I'll keep them company and distracted long enough so that when you come home their only concern will be to curl up on the couch with you and pass out like usual." Rebecca rolled her eyes but wrapped an arm around her sisters and put her head on the woman's shoulder thanking the world she was as understanding as she was.

"Yeah." She sighed and watched the busy people come in and out of the station. "I just hate disa-"

"Rebecca," Her sister laughed, "you're overthinking this sis. They love you to death even more than me at times so it really WILL NOT be a problem. They just hate you missing out on the bug filled fun." Rebecca laughed feeling a little more at ease.

They stood there watching everyone leave in silence. It had become a routine on the weekends when one had to work the other stayed behind to provide a ride instead of making the other get a taxi, their mother usually grabbed the girls from school on Friday and stole them till Sunday just to ease the routine a bit not that Selene minded at all. Many curious characters find their way in and out of the station ranging from old pals and wives picking up those lucky enough to be off, to those late night last catches officers had to process through. She sighed and guessed who did what and watched her sister study the crowd carefully.

Kiara had been in the military prior to being a police officer and always seemed to study crowds for whatever she did it for. Rebecca didn't know and never asked knowing it was her sisters secret and she didn't want to intrude but 90% of the time it seemed to help them find the right suspect for a case or a runner. Rebecca had wanted to pick up on it as it'd help a lot, but she could never gain the hang of it yet. Kiara noticed her watching and gave a sheepish smile before returning back to her hard expression that deterred most.

Rebecca looked down at the watch on her wrist and sighed. She had come in early and was starting to regret it because the other S.T.A.R.S. members were late and she was quite bored. They had training today and tomorrow before they were shipped out on an investigation and honestly she just wanted to get it over with. Kiara would be there (and was allowed to) till they had finished so they could go home but she knew that she'd have to prove she was worth her weight on the team and hated that stress on her shoulders. She was the youngest of them being only eighteen and many of the members still treated her like a kid and she hated that. She couldn't do anything about it though. She just had to try.

She remembered asking her sister once she went for the interview to give her some training and she had. Self-defense and proper use of a firearm more like it, but it helped. She knew how to use a gun and half to disarm someone if they came too close so she was thankful she had at least learned to read as much as she had. She understood why her sister had been resistant as she'd killed men sometimes without question and it still haunted her, but all she wanted was to know at least just enough to keep herself alive and survive. Kiara had been great at that. Surviving so it only made sense that she'd learn from her the one person she trusted the most besides her only living mother.

Thinking about her mother it had made her smile how close Selene and her sister was given how she came to be in the family. They weren't blood related but as her father told her "It don't matter much long as they love you and are there for you like family should." and Kiara had done that. She'd done more than that. She'd make their small family better. Kiara moved into town shortly after being medically discharged, and shortly after her family pulled her into their own and was there for her the entire way through her PTSD issues, pregnancy, moving to Raccoon, and they had never left. Their father Alexander had passed away after the girls had turned four, but he taught them important things that lived on. Alexia or Alex rather was named after his mother as well paying homage to the man who was more of a father to Kiara than her father was and it made Rebecca happy to know he loved them bother even if Kiara was ten years older.

Rebecca opened her mouth to say something, but a pair of illuminated eyes stopped her. The crowd died down and she'd finally gotten a good glimpse, her breath was caught in her throat as the eyes stopped and looked at her. The brown eyes belonged to a woman maybe just a few months younger, she wore a leather jacket, dark shirt with she guessed an artist logo on it (whomever Emmie Pendleton was. Name sounded familiar though.), black jeans, and simple enough boots. She looked a little pale, her hair was blonder but the natural color of brown shone through, and she looked like she hadn't slept in a few days but that didn't stop her from being as Rebecca thought beautiful. The woman had a small cut on her cheek and dirt smeared on her face, but she didn't care. Probably a bar fight.

"Who is she?" She asked nudging Kiara and pointing to the woman.

"Who? Oh! Luke brought her in said she was involved in a bar fight down at Jay's." Kiara sighed. "Funny enough none of the guys involved were arrested." She studied Rebecca. "Why? Got a crush?" Rebecca's cheeks turned slight pink as she looked up at her sister and frowned. "Kidding! But I'll sort this ou-" Rebecca stopped her.

"No I got this." Kiara smiled proudly at her and held out a hand motioning for her to do so. Rebecca rooled her eyes smiling.

As she past the woman to where the unlucky man stood she felt the woman's eyes on her at all times and it made her shiver. The eyes weren't angry at her, just curious maybe a little too curious. It made her wonder what the woman thought about her just out of curiousity. She was intiguing and did not match this city so it was unusual to see someone like her. What wasn't unusual though was Luke (Kiara's partner) doing as he did with her and brining her in for any sort of ridiculous reasons. She didn't know any kind word to describe him.

He was currently flirting (or rather harrassing) one of her sisters friends Tawsha at the front desk. She gave Rebecca a pleading look to get him as far away from her as fast as possible. Rebecca stood behind him nodding to her and waited for him to acknowledge her as she crossed her arms. Once he did he leant against the surfact and smiled obnoxiously running a hand through his hair.

"What cha need pretty little thing?" He winked. Rebecca remained unimpressioned keeping her expression neutral.

"That woman," Rebecca nodded to the woman who was still very much watching her, "What did she do?" He seemed confused.

"'Scuse me?" He asked standing up defensively knowing what she was insinuating.

"What. Did. She. Do?" She asked again and looked him up and down. There was an aura about him that detested Rebecca. She didn't even want to talk to him at the moment. She was being hard with him and this wasn't normally her style but she could tell he wasn't understanding it.

"Pardon me but I don't think that's none your business." He crossed his arms. "So why don't you go back to knitting youngin." He scoffed.

"I'm sorry you must be misunderstanding her." Tawsha spoke up. "This is Rebecca Chambers, you know the new S.T.A.R.S. member?" Her tone irritated him and he was about to tell her to shut up before she spoke up again. "So technically you have to answer him. I am going on break." And she disappeared before she felt the lashback.

"Sorry Officer." He said reluctantly apologizing to her. "She was involved in a barfight-"

"Did she start it?"

"No but-"

"Did she actually fight in it?"

"No b-"

"So where are the ones who did?"

"Now wait just a minute-"

"Mhmm." Was all she had to say before he got the message and uncuffed the woman as Rebecca followed. He knew who she was and would rather not put up with Kiara or her writing him up for this.

"There you're free to go." He stated before giving Rebecca a look and walking off in a hurry.

The two women watched him go as she rubbed her wrists. Rebecca glanced at her remaining silent aware that the cuffs were probably a little too tight. She thought about asking her to stay put while she grabbed some lotionn her sister kept just for this purpose that she had actuallu managed to make. The woman's eyebrows dipped as she looked up at Rebecca but not in any negative way just confused.

"Use your thumb instead." Rebecca spoke up. She looked at her even more confused. "Like this," Rebecca took a wrist and rubbed gentle small circles with her thumb over the red marks. The woman seemed to like it. "rub small gentle circles it helps."

"I-uh thanks I guess." She muttered and tried it herself. It mananged to work. "You do this alot?" Rebecca shook her head.

"I'm a medic. But I have done this for a few friends who are into- other activities. It's awkward but sometimes something is a little too tight-" Rebecca closed her mouth realizing the inuendo placed and the woman chuckled a little at her look. "I didn't mean-"

"Chill," She told her raising her hand, "It's fine. I got what you meant." Rebecca nodded. "Know of any cheap place to eat and stay at? I only have a couple hundred." She admitted.

Rebecca thought for a moment. Jay's was out of the question, they weren't even the legal age come to think of it. For a cheap place there was Dennis's hotel and dine. The owner was nice and a complete sweetheart who would gladly work with her if she couldn't afford a week. She remembered staying there last year while Kiara and hers' apartment was being renovated for a week before her mother forced them to come home.

"Let me take you to eat." The woman looked shocked. "I mean- you're going to need that to buy a few days at Dennis's and although that comes with food and all no way they'll serve dinner at 11 P.M."

"That's sweet and all princess but trust me I'm not-" Rebecca stopped her.

"Then consider this me apologizing for the bimbos actions okay?" The woman seemed to relent and nod getting the idea Rebecca wouldn't let her waste her money when it was obvious she could help. "Good now give me a minute. Just follow the redhead over there and don't worry she's my sister."

The woman did as she asked and greeted Kiara cautiously who quickly figured out with a smile what Rebecca had done and led her to the van in silence apologizing for the mess as she cleared some of the toys. The girls had loved to bring every toy they owned when they went everywhere and although cute it caused clutter at times. Clutter that got in the way but the woman didn't seem to mind neither did Kiara.

Rebecca had quickly found her way to her desk in the S.T.A.R.S. office and grabbed the small purse her sister had stashed in one of boxes with ease knowing it wouldn't be picked through like it might if she had kept it at her desk. She rummaged through it only stopping once she pulled out a small drawing and smiled. Alex and Gabby had worked together to make masterpiece of a stick family, her father having wings and being placed above the others to sinulate watching over them, and ever since Rebecca and Kiara kept it around close finding it too dear to loose track of. It might have been silly but she loved it. She loved looking at it and knowing the girls loved her like they did.

She put it back gently and found the keys before pulling the purse up to her shoulder and finding her way to the van where her the silence seemed eerie. She looked back to make sure the woman was okay and had to look away when eyes found hers.

"So we ready cap'n?" Her sister teased. Rebecca shoved her but started the car. "Sally's?"

"Sally's."

"Sally?" The woman asked curiously.

"Nearby Diner. I know the owner." Kiara admitted.

Simple enough most of the late dinner was small talk. Mainly Kiara talking about the precint and giving the woman on how to avoid some of the worst officers and the chief himself if need be. She didn't seem to think she'd stay more than a day or two but wanted to come back back obviously. Rebecca added in a couple of things and asked a few questions that she didn't think were too personal and the woman gladly answered but still seemed distant not that Rebecca had a problem with it. Everyone had their reasons for what they did and why. Kiara had taught her that and she didn't pry too hard.

The thought to ask her to join her for breakfast crossed her mind but she shook her head. That would have been weird.

"I'm Rebecca." Rebecca interrupted realizing that they hadn't introduced themselves yet. She held her hand out. "Rebecca Chambers." She smiled and shook the womans hand.

"Kiara GenovLust." Kiara smiled and shook her hand as well.

"Heather." Rebecca thought the name was quite beautiful as well so she smiled. "I thought you were sisters..?"

"Oh not by blood. Her family kind of adopted me." Kiara smiled and bumped Rebecca with her elbow whom bumped her back.

"Oh."

The rest of the time they had together awas short but sweet. A little disappointed she wouldn't be in town long but Rebecca was glad she managed to help her out as much as she did. Heather seemed to be just traveling along through town on her way to see a friend who apparently she'd been through a lot with. She assumed this Douglas was a father figure or her father but didn't know for sure not that it mattered if she wasn't staying for long but promised she'd be on her way through here again on her way back. She needed an opinion on something and Rebecca didn't ask much more.

Rebecca had managed to ask about her shirt and Heather with greath pride stated that Emmie was a close friend, great cop, and amazing singer. She released covers online and took the opportunity to buy the first shirt from her merchandise store as soon as it opened. She currently resided in a town with her husband murphy and lived a quiet life..from time to time. Rebecca remembered why the name was so familiar. She had come accross Emmie online a couple of times and sgreed her voice was amazing. Kiara chuckled and stated she'd come accross her passing through the town she was a cop at coincidentally being arrested for barfighting ironically but Emmie had investigated it herself and found Kiara had stopped a couple of men. It was no surprise it looked suspicious that Kiara had remained unharmed and the drunk men were bruised. Emmie was vareful and thorough with the whole ordeal. They had exchanged numbers just in case they needed a favor. She heard Emmie was rising through the ranks even close to becoming chief in a few years. Heather only nodded and said she deserved it so very much.

After awhile Heather stated she had to get going and refused a ride probably protecting herself from getting to close to anyone but thanked them and promised to call if she needed anything. Rebecca could only nod and was wuite on her way back to the station. Kiara knew why. Rebecca was overthinking again.

The wait began again. It took the others about fifteen minutes apart to arrive. Chris obviously disheveled and Jill just tired. The last to arrive was Wesker whom led them to the training room and they began.

They did simple things. Mainly workouts. Most of the guys seemed surprised Kiara could keep up with them ater they challenged her. Rebecca and Jill seemed to split apart from the group doing pushups and chatted. It was one of the few times she had gotten to talk to Jill without the guys interrupting even if they were busy. Neither of them minded and after awhile they watched the guys spar not daring to challenge Wesker.

After awhile Jill joined the sparring only to be taken down by Wesker when he stepped in.

"What about her?" Chris asked pointing to Kiara whom still in uniform seemed to sir against a wall sighing. Wesker cocked his head at her.

"Whats the rule?" He asked.

"You can only stay if you hold your own. Unless you're a recruit." Rebecca winced at that.

Kiara shrugged and stood up after tossing her stick and flashlight aside as well as her badge and met chris on the mat. Wesker seemed surprised she did it. It was funny. He claimed to know her but he didn't really. It was odd to say the least. When the short match began Chris charged first going for her waist to throw her down and Kiara grabbed his arm forcing him up and slammed her shoulder into his chest just enough to push him back and catch his breath. He seemed surprised but went after her again. This time he tried to grab her shoulders only for her to step back at the last second and force him face first into the mat. He became irritated and stood up lunging for her. She kicked his knee and he fell. Before he could try again Wesker told him to step back.

Wesker seemed impressed enough and let her stay. Rebecca felt a little ashamed Kiara didn't drop kick him as she'd seen her do before. Chris wouldn't be very smug after that. Barry seemed to laugh and congratulate Chris on kising the mat to which he agreed Kiara was an okay fighter. She liked that about Chris. He wasn't always a sore loser about loosing to a girl. Unless you played chess with him like she did then he had a problem and claimed it was a stupid game. Rebecca loved Chess but just didn't like playing with him.

The rest seemed to go by way too fast not that Rebecca complained.

"You know you could have asked her." Kiara told her as soon as they exited the building.

"What?"

"Heather. You could have asked her out." Rebecca only shrugged. She wanted to but she thought it'd have been weird and wasn't even sure what Heather's into. They had only just met. Still she felt like she'd see more of her at some point. She was sure of that.
