It was snowing outside, a beautiful sight, but she closed her blinds anyways.

He was out there. Damp and exhausted. Cold and hurt. Sad and hopeless. He'd been outside for three hours.

She was only twenty.

He was only twenty-one.

Yet six long years had passed for the both of them.

He did this, she thought to herself, he never tried, he did this to himself.

The frost bight, threatening to take his fingers, told otherwise.

She couldn't let him die out there, and god knows he was stubborn enough to do it.

She sighed, walking down the soft, carpeted steps to answer the door. .

He was beautiful; she couldn't deny that, even with his crumpled, slightly muddy clothing. He could never be less, not to her.

"Come in," she said, holding the door open.

He looked at her and slowly shook his head. "I came to say sorry."

She rolled her eyes, scrunching her lips together in annoyance, "Sorry Brewer, really. As if that could cut it, get inside."

He visibly winced. "I shouldn't have done it. I shouldn't have."

She tapped her foot impatiently, "you humiliate me, tell the whole school I'm a slut, and waited six whole years to apologize. I'm sorry if I don't believe you Jack, but frankly, you don't have my trust anymore."

He looked at her pleadingly. "Please Kim, just wait a second." He took a deep breath, "I did it so they'd stay away from you. I-I was jealous Kim. You were with Carter at the time, and things were getting heated," he coughed, "Between you two."

"And that gives you any right?" She screamed in outrage. Tears freely falling from her eyes. "Just because I was in love?"

How he wanted to wipe them away.

"You were starting to spend less and less time with us and…I just wanted you. Wanted you back. Wanted the days when I could sling my arm around you. I wanted YOU Kim. You."

She shook her head, sniffling and shutting her eyes tightly. "No Jack, you wanted to hurt me. To-to get rid of me like Donna said. That's what she told me Jack, she's my best friend."

He took her trembling hands and held them to his chest. "Kim, look at me, open your eyes."

She slowly cracked one open.

"I love you, more than anything in the world. It's not an excuse for my actions, nothing could dismiss them, but I want you to know that I'm sorry. So, so sorry for what I did."

There was a moment of silence.

"I, I should probably get going now," he said huskily, gently setting down her hands and turning around. Walking in the general direction of his car.

She stared after him, watching as he walked away, a defeated look in his eye.

She ran.

Her slippers were soaked, her hair was wet, and her muscles were cramped by the time she'd reached him. Grasping his arm with a grip of steal, she swung him around, there faces mere millileters apart.

Jack looked at her with sorrow, a shy, dead smile on his face.

That was the last straw. She launched herself, kissing him hungrily as he grasped her hips, pulling her roughly to his chest.

"I wasn't in love with Carter, Jack, I was in love with you."

Hope you Loved, (:
