AN: A oneshot based on Tamina's death. As always, and quite uselessly, I do not own any bit of this film and its associated merchandise.
Lifetime
Fear.
Absolute fear.
She could feel the wide, empty chasm below her, waiting to swallow her up.
The thought of such a death terrified her beyond belief but it was what she was trained for since her birth.
Perhaps in another life, in another timeline, she would not have been afraid.
She may well have welcomed it.
If not for the man clinging onto the rock face before her.
In another lifetime she would have died a long time ago.
But it was this man that made her grasp onto any semblance of life. There was a deep yearning for something resembling a normal life and this man, was her only hope for it.
Yet, no matter what her heart wanted, it would always be her destiny to die for the dagger.
She stared at her lover's stricken face and for the first time in her life, cursed the blasted dagger.
The tears rolled down her face, blurring the image of her lover's face.
It would be better this way, not to see the fear and heartbreak of a man who was capable of loving her.
"Let me go"
She released her grip on his wrist.
The terror filled her every pore.
But it was the terror of losing this man that now consumed her.
"I wish we could have been together"
She closed her eyes and waited for the weightlessness that would meet her.
For the last time his hand slipped from its grip on her wrist.
Her own stricken voice escaped her throat.
For duty.
For love.
