"Piccolo!" Squeaked the little brat happily as he ran up to the green Namekian.
"What?" The namekian grunted, unhappy that the kid had interrupted him during his meditation.
Gohan stepped back, eyes wide and nearly fearful. "Er, I mean, if you're busy or somethin', then I'll just give it to you later, yeah?"
"Give what to me later?" He snarled, opening his eyes.
"Erm, nooothing.." Gohan dragged out slowly.
"Kid. If you have something important to show me, then show me it, don't stand around waiting like the worthless little brat you are. Now show me it or I'll-"
Before Piccolo finished his sentence, Gohan shoved something in his lap and stepped back, hands crisscrossed behind his back.
Piccolo stared down at the grossly bright, jaggedly cut red paper. He had no idea what it was. He tilted it one way, and then the other way. Then he flipped it over, and he still didn't know what it was.
Finally, he deciphered that it was a heart. Most possibly a handmade one, since he could barely figure out what it was in the first place.
Across the red, heart-shaped multicolored candies curved into the words:
I love u, Piccolo
He raised a brow-ridge and flipped the heart open, the candies falling into his lap as he did so. Slightly more legible words ran across the red this time; he guessed he had help from that infuriating woman with the frying pan, Chi-Chi.
"Even though you're really really really really really really really really really really really really scary and kinda mean, I still really really really really really really really like you, Piccolo. You're a really cool Namekian and I couldn't have hoped for a better teacher. Mom says you're an "oversized frightening alien with the name of a musical instrument" but I don't think she's really right. You're really cool and...
You aren't just some alien from Namek with the name of a 'musical instrument', you're my friend and I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really like you, Piccolo.
Gohan :)"
The namekian stared at the heart blankly for a moment, and then reread it again. And again. And one more time, just for good measure. Then he looked up. He didn't feel too good; there was something in his chest. He didn't know if he liked it or disliked it, but it was odd.
"What's this?"
"Erm.. it's Valentine's day. Usually couples get all mushy-" Here, Gohan's face twisted in disgust "and send eachother flowers and chocolate and candy and kiss eachother a lot, but I don't want to kiss you and you don't eat and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't like flowers so I just gave you this. I'm sorry if you don't like it, I'll just take it back now, sorry!" Gohan took a big gulp of air in.
"I never said I didn't like it, kid."
"Does that mean you like it?" Gohan asked, face hopeful and eyes wide.
Piccolo glanced from Gohan to the heart, and then back again. He carefully rolled a candy heart that had fallen into the grass around in his palm, and then glanced up at Gohan again, feeling quite awkward.
"Yeah, kid. I guess I do. Happy Valentine's Day." The words felt awkward on his tongue and the odd feeling in his chest was still there, but Gohan's bright, happy smile was worth it.
~Yeah, yeah. I know it isn't Valentine's Day, but still. I never get story ideas in my head - and they're rarely good, so I just had to post this. Hope you like. Reviews make my heart happy. :D~
