Safety

A/N: My normal X-Men pairing is Bobby/John, but when I saw this prompt I couldn't stop the plot bunnies, so I wrote a quick drabble about it. Hope you like it. Its a bit longer than the requirements, 319 words total. Mentions the death of a character.

Pairing: Rogue/Pyro, Rogue/Bobby

Prompt: "Safety"

R/R: Movieverse, 200 words; Post-X3.

Safety.

That's what she looked for in Bobby. He was gentle, kind, romantic, and as predictable as the sun rising in the East and setting in the West. Bobby was what every girl would dream of, a modern day knight in shining armor who'd come to rescue her from her own skin. Boy scout Bobby, always the guy that would do the right thing, always the hero, the good guy, clean and perfect in his ice.

Rogue doesn't like clean-cut and wholesome, would she have been in that bar where she met Wolverine in the first place if she had? Would she have had a boy alone in her room, on her bed with the door closed if she did? Would she have chased after Wolverine for so long if she wanted the knight in shining armor?

No, she wouldn't have done any of that.

She wanted the bad boy, the biker. The buff guy in the leather jacket with a smoke dangling from his lips and fire in his eyes. She wanted the guy that wouldn't treat her like she was glass, the guy that wasn't afraid of touching her, the guy that thrived on the fact that he could die touching her. She wanted Pyro.

In the dark corners and broom closets of the mansion she had him, all to herself. Fire touching her skin a little too close for comfort, John kissing her too long, hasty, sweaty grinding over clothing that would ride up or down and neither of them cared. She loved the rush of desire that came with the danger, the fire.

Now, all she had was the cold, the safety, and kind-hearted Bobby who would never know who she was really grieving for. She had the safety and certainty and predictable everyday life once more. She had lost the fire, the spark.

And she would do anything to burn her safety away again.

Could you tell I've never written a straight fan fic before? Please review, I have no idea how I did on this.
