Together At Last.

It was a cold and windy October evening, years after the gang had left the forest. Robin was sitting alone in Locksley Manor, curled up tightly on his comfy chair, with only a thin blanket to keep him warm.

He was going to die; he knew that much and he was glad. He smiled, a warm feeling filling the emptiness that had enveloped his heart since Marians death, he would see her again may be in just a couple of hours.

He was the last one left, Marian had died just over twelve years ago now and the pain hadn't got any easier. Only a month after they had arrived back in England had the king come back to his home country, peace had finally been established and the king had presented them with honors.

John had been the first of the gang to go, ten years ago now. He had left the gang as soon as the king had returned, to find Alice and his son. He had succeeded but a month afterwards Alice has informed them that he had died peacefully in his sleep. Robin smiled, he was glad that John, the gentle giant, had died with his family, but he just wished they could have had more time together.

Will and Djaq had surprisingly been the next to go; two years after John. They had caught a pretty nasty disease in the Holy Lands and died within hours of each other, wrapped in each others arms. The rest of the gang had visited their graves a few times now, happy that they had died together, knowing one couldn't have lived without the other.

The most surprising of deaths was Much's, five years ago now. He had just gone to sleep one night, feeling absolutely fine and never woken up. His best friend had found and married Eve, they had lived in Bonchurch which their two children, John and Will, now lived in, looked after by the maids after Eve had died just a year ago. Robin smiled at the thought of those children; they had always come around and asked him to tell them about their adventures in Sherwood, he was sure that they would miss him.

Then Allan had died, only a month ago of pneumonia, which, sadly, his wife, Jane, had caught too, so their child, Mary, was now living at Bonchurch with John and Will.

He missed every single one of them, John's insistent, 'We go to Nottingham,' and Allan's, 'I'm not being funny but…' he missed Will's quiet determination to beat the Sheriff and Djaq's undying love for Will, he missed Much's annoying chattering and his unnatural worrying, but most of all he missed Marian, the taste of her lips on his, the feel of her soft hand in his, the strongest feeling of love and devotion he had felt when ever he had seen her.

As Robin sadly reflected all his dear friends lives he felt happy, he would see them soon, all of them, because he was going to die soon, he could feel it.

Robin sank back into his chair, his eyes closing gently and his last breath leaving his body before he felt himself rising and opened his eyes, the first face he saw was that of his true love's and they rose into the air together, hand in hand, together at last.
