Cold
By Any Unborn Child
These days, the world seemed to be lit only for a short while. Yuuki was often worrying so much, wondering what would be expected of her next, wondering what possibilities would await her at the midnight hour, that the brightness of the sun would escape her.
She barely remembered what happened in class anymore. The fringe of her memories stayed focused on the night, when thirst would be quenched and her senses surrendered to submission.
For her, the light seemed to stay for a few moments, resembling what would be a remembrance of the more pleasant days before, and then snaps to black in an instant, with nothing being as it once was, with everything changing within a moment's notice.
Her family…was not who they said they were.
Her friends….were either away in the shadows, feeding their own desires, or nonexistent.
Her thoughts…were now clouded, the past slowly fading away to nothing.
Her body…was not hers anymore, merely a vessel to be filled, to be ravished over and over with the promise of blood and something more.
Everything seemed…everything was…so primal…so automatic.
There was something that Yuuki wanted, something that she so desperately craved…
At this, the thought of Zero, her former friend, her former lover, would cross her mind, grace it with its presence…
Yes…that was it…
But, like so many of her memories, Zero faded away, the silver of his gaze, the fragrance of his touch along with it.
Never had Yuuki felt so frozen the way she did now. She wanted to make Kaname happy, she really did. He was hers, and she was his.
But…she was cold now.
She had been for a while.
