Tessa Gray
Do you see that girl over there? She's the one with her nose in a book. Well, her name is Tessa Gray and although she seems quite boring she is actually the girl who saved the world. Now, I'm sure you've heard some version of her story if you feel the need to read this but what I'm about to tell you may be very hard to believe. However, I am the only one she told her story to and I am the only one who knows what really happened besides her, a man named Magnus Bane, a few tombstones, and a boy with the bluest eyes you ever did see.
A while ago Tessa got in with a bad crowd. They were her brother's friends a sort of gang of druggies who all basically worshipped at their dealer's feet. This dealer called him self the Magistrate but no on actually knew his real name. Tessa's brother had already left for college but the dealer hung around and started to take an interest in sweet little Tessa. No one messed with Tessa before that, Nate had always looked out for her so she never really figured out how to fend for herself until it was too late.
About a year ago Tessa started getting tired of being sweet little Tessa and wanted to show everyone the girl she thought she could be. She wanted to be the girl that acted like all of the heroes in her books. Not the self-righteous goody-goodies but the ones who were strong enough to go through anything and the ones, who had the courage to put into action whatever thoughts, dark or strange or terrible, occupied their daydreams. She wanted to become Tess, a completely new identity for herself. This is not uncommon of course for girls her age to do but while Tessa had a calm façade and hid her inner longings Tess let the façade crumble and sought out trouble and passion and dark fancy everywhere.
Tessa planned her transformation out in her head and figured she would begin the day she turned seventeen. She decided that was the day her life would change. And it did.
On the morning of her seventeenth birthday she got ready for school but packed a change of clothes (if you could call them that) for later. It was a Friday and it's not like she had anyone at home except Sophie, her little sister, so it was time for her to party. It's not like she hadn't, after all she was part of the Magistrate's group even though she didn't take the drug. However, tonight she had different plans. Actually, they were more like guidelines, I think; she simply wanted it to be the start of her letting go and enjoying herself.
After school Tess hung out with the group in the Magistrate's apartment and changed in the bathroom. When she had left it was just the normal crowd then. Jem, Jessie, and Gabriel were sitting on the worn comfy green couch in the middle of M's apartment, but when she came out she notices that someone else had entered the room of course it was hard not to notice with those searing blue eyes staring at her and taking her in. It was then that she realized everyone was staring at her. She knew the clothes were a change but seriously. She was wearing all black, as was custom for M's gang. A short skirt cut off a little above where her fingertips brushed the parts of her skin that weren't covered by her fishnet leggings and her black bro tank hung loose and open enough for her lacy black bando to be a necessity. While everyone else was staring M took one glance at her smiled a bit and said," Looking hot Tess," and that was it. Her identity was officially changed because M said so.
The room bubbled with M's junkies as they accepted Tess.
