A/N: Disclaimer #1: I do not own Naruto. It rightfully belongs to it's respective owner(s.)
Disclaimer #2: I'm not a NaruSaku shipper. Neither am I a NaruHina, or any other kind of Naruto "shipper." Neither am I one of those "shipping-is-stupid-and-not-needed" kind of people. I guess anime would be boring without some kind of "love." But anyway, I chose NaruSaku because it felt easiest and... well... I guess I'm too lazy to write "Oh, Umm, I-I, Naruto-kun!" or anything else :P
And NOTE & also, HUGE SPOILER ALERT, ONLY READ IF YOU'VE WATCHED THE WHOLE NARUTO SHIPPUDEN SERIES, OR AT LEAST, THE ENDING: This fanfic is "happening" during "the blank period." Look it up on Narutopedia if you need to, but it's basically Naruto becoming Hokage, marrying Hinata and getting kids and blablabla... And also Sasuke and Sakura getting a kid and blablablabla and getting married...blablabla... After the world war and blablablabla...
And, this is my first pairing fic ever, so be as critizczczccing as you desire ;P
Btw, this fic came out on the top of my head, lololol

Naruto's farewell
Naruto turned and twisted, he wretched and rolled over. He just couldn't get it out of his head. But when he heard Hinata mumble in her sleep, sleeping beside him, he calmed down a little. 'No need to wake the innocent,' he thought.
He had everything he dreamt off as young. The title of Hokage, a pretty girl and how much ramen he desire. But something has been dwelling inside him, gnawing in the back of his head. Every time he closed his eyes, that something felt even more real, and bright colors blinded him. 'I'm just imagining things, that's all,' he thought to himself, 'The position as Hokage has just been a little... Overwhelming. I'm just tired.' He closed his eyes again, trying to enforce sleep. Only, to be greeted by that shining color again. But this time, he decided to wait it out. As the brightness began to dim, he saw what color it was. Pink.
And the second the color "pink" was registered by his mind, the color exploded into a hundred different tones. The tones was swirling, twisting, almost dancing in front of him.
'Beautiful...'
And as tiredness washed upon him, he barely audibly uttered:
"Sakura..."
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Sakura felt the slight breeze licking her skin. How the glistering sun bathed the area in sunlight, how it warmed her soul. 'Such a nice day, and such a nice village,' she thought as she kept walking outside the village. Even years after the Fourth Shinobi World War, she hasn't been seeing such a nice day. In fact, so nice that she wondered if something special was about to happen. She could just feel it in the air. 'These years have truly been the years of my life.' 'Marrying Sasuke-kun, getting Sarada, and even that Naruto finally became Hokage.'
'Naruto...'
Sakura have been feeling a such a strange feeling around Naruto. Not because of that he is the Hokage, but because of something else. She couldn't really pinpoint it, but she felt... guilty. She still hasn't gotten over the fact that she's been such dead weight to him. She just dumped all her pain, and all her sorrow, right onto Naruto's shoulders. She's been thinking of it so much lately, that she even thought that just going and straight up apologizing would be a good idea. She really had no clue how to go about it. She just have to get this guiltiness off of her.
And so she decided. She's meeting up with Naruto.

"Um, Naruto-kun...?"
"...ugh..."
"Uhmm, Naruto-kun, you'll be late for work..."
"...huhmm...don't worry...took...the day off..."
"Umm, Naruto-kun... I'm not sure you can just "take the day off" as Hokage..."
"...Don't worry...'bout it..."
Hinata sighed. But she let him be and left the bedroom.
"I'll be going, see you later, Naruto-kun!"
"Later...!"
Naruto drew the cover over himself as the sunlight peeked inside the room. He hasn't been sleeping well this night, at all.
Eventually, he dragged himself out of bed. He decided to not to dress as annoyingly formally. Being the Hokage usually means strict, formal clothing. But he just didn't have the energy to care today. As he got dressed, he looked at the portraits standing on the dresser. There was three portraits. One of him and his family, one of Team 8 and one of Team 7. He looked closely at his team's picture.
Later, he found himself looking closely at the picture, and very close at Sakura. Embarrassed, he quickly finished dressing and went downstairs. He didn't feel like eating breakfast that morning, but he put an "instant ramen" in the microwave. He turned it on with a beep, and then dumped down on a chair. He ruffled his hair, and yawned loudly as he waited for his breakfast. 'I wonder how the elders will react when I just take the day off like that," he thought. But the microwave interrupted his thoughts, indicating that the ramen was ready. He took it out, opened it up and got a couple of eating sticks. He wasn't really hungry, but he needed the energy. Once again, he found himself just fiddling around with his ramen. The pork and vegetables were just floating around, but he felt almost hypnotized about it. He closed his eyes, and then opened them again. Suddenly, the ramen looked like an incomplete puzzle. He fiddled around a bit more with the food. The pork kind of looked like pink hair and the leek looked just like-
"What am I doing?!" he broke out.
"Daaad? Something wrong...?" Boruto shouted from his bedroom.
"No, it's nothing, Boruto." He replied.
He dropped the eating sticks and leaned back at the chair.
'Fine,' he thought,
'I guess I'll go see Sakura.'

Sakura walked through the village. It was awfully quiet, even though she knew there was a giant swimming contest in a lake near the village. Maybe people just didn't have anything better to do, at this lovely morning. But as she rounded a corner, she bumped right into someone.
"Wo-ah, watch out!"
"Woooah!"
She crashed right into the tall person, but got caught before falling to the ground.
"Good morning, Sakura-chan" a familiar voice uttered.
As she looked up at the person, her look was greeted with a remarkable grin.
She smiled back.
"Good morning, Hokage-sama"
As she kept on smiling, Naruto had seemingly forgotten to drop her, to let her go. Sakura didn't really mind, but lucky for him, nobody was around. A near minute passed before he, while being embarrassed, thought of letting her go. But he didn't give any room for silent awkwardness, but instead he got on topic.
"Coincidentally, I was looking for you, Sakura-chan."
"I was actually looking for you too, Hokage-sama."
"I'm Naruto, as much as I enjoy being Hokage, you can should call me Naruto."
He smirked.
"Well, Naruto-kun, As I was saying, I was looking for you too. But you can start, what's up?"
He went quiet.
"Sakura-chan, could we take a walk?"
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Naruto glanced at her as they were walking. The sunshine made her pink hair almost sparkle. In fact, whole her seemed to shine. While looking at her like this, he remembered why he liked her so much as young. Her emerald eyes and pink hair just appealed to him like no one else. He should be ashamed, thinking of his friend like this. Especially when they both have a relationship.
But he'd never cheat on Hinata, not ever. He feels relieved about how he feels about, just that. Hinata and Sasuke... No he'd never ever be able to do it. But no matter of how far away it seemed, he still couldn't get around something. Something about when they were young. Then he remembers: The secret promise he made to himself. The promise he had just been forgetting about, since Sasuke disappeared, the world war and everything. The promise he made to himself. Not about becoming Hokage. Of course, he wanted that too but, something else, something a lot more personal. He gathered courage.
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
"Sakura-chan?"
"Yeah?"
"This is going to sound so stupid, but I'm stupid, so it should be fine."
She looked wondering at him as they stopped walking.
"I don't believe a Hokage can be stupid, but go on," she replied.
He closed his eyes and began.
"When we were kids, I always ran around saying that I wanted to become Hokage, and I shouted about Nindo, my ninja way, right?"
"How could I forget."
"But the fact is, I made another promise..."
His voice became less stable.
"Okay?"
"I know things are getting more distant between us, y'know, by being Hokage and stuff..."
He really started to sound like was 12 again. He was going red and started to stutter.
"And... uh-hh...well...I-I umm..."
Now he apparently could hold it any longer. But then, suddenly, he grabbed her and with a serious look in his eyes.
"Sakura, as Hokage I forbid you to tell anyone about this, in fact, our meeting here never happened."
He continued before she was able to say anything.
"As a child, I made a promise that I would one day..."
"Kiss you."
"And now, all grown up, I know it's silly, bur my kid-self just want to say...say farewell."
"But Naru-"
She got cut of by his deep, passionate kiss. Surprised, she froze and wasn't able to do anything at first. But he planned to stay there for a while, so carefully, she placed her hands around his back. She kissed back a little, still being surprised and unsure.
But then, he suddenly stopped.
"Farewell, Sakura."
Then he disappeared with a small cloud of smoke.
Sakura just stood there. She stood there, for what may have been minutes.
Until she whispered:
"Naruto, you idiot."
With a smile.
So, what did you think? For coming out from the top off my head, I got pretty satisfied. Well, please tell me what you think, it's what really matters, anyway :P
Thank you for reading!
