Running home, I felt triumphant, exuberant, and a happiness that couldn't compare to anything I'd felt before. Bella still loved me. Bella still wanted me. She wanted me forever, however bittersweet that might be. The mortality vote had left me in a sour mood at first, but with Bella's reluctance to be married, she was at least guaranteed a bit more time to be human.

As I ran, my thoughts focused solely on Bella. No words could describe how I felt when she told me she still wanted me, or the bliss when I finally kissed her again. I was blinded with joy, my supreme happiness filling every inch of me. So I was a bit shocked when an unseen force knocked me on my back, as I approached my home. I recoiled instantly, crouching into a defensive position, and was promptly knocked back again. I looked up, and saw Emmett standing over me, his normal cheeriness replaced with a look of contempt.

"What the hell Edward?!" he thundered. I tried to pick at his thoughts, to figure out what he was upset about, but his rage clouded his mind, making his thoughts, for once, impossible to read.

"Whoa, calm down Emmett!" I cried. "What's going on?"

"What's going on?" he sputtered. "You leave our family, almost get yourself and others killed, risk our secret, and now this?"

I scanned my memory. What had I done that trumped everything else? I stared blankly at Emmett. He rolled his eyes at me.

"The TV! Goddamn, it was barely out of the box!"
