This is my first attempt at Star Wars so please be nice. I've wanted to write for ages but was too scared so hopefully you will like it.

This is sort of the prequel to a story I am thinking about writing if this gets good reviews.

Thanks again!

You will not defeat me.

Leia stares at the biscuit, challenging it to tempt her.

She forces herself to imagine its crumbly, sweet, warm taste, the faint crunch of sugar grains not entirely melted into toffee.

She imagines the feel of her teeth sinking into it and how the taste would spread over her tongue.

She images all this and her mouth waters and she stands up and she walks away.

Han Solo watches her do this, as he watches the same routine every Breakfast and every Lunch and every time she bothers to show up for dinner ("There's simply too much work- you wouldn't understand, having never had a proper job in your life").

A few minutes after she leaves he quietly walks over to her table and takes the biscuit, wrapping it in a napkin.

He will put it in the box in the falcon.

The box that counts the days that Leia has not eaten properly.

At the bottom of the box they are starting to go mouldy.

He is thinking of giving it to her as a Sweethearts Day present if she hasn't died before then.

He worries and he understands so he does not get in the way but simply picks up the pieces that she drops as she drops them.

He understands she needs to control certain elements of her life in order to face living it.

He understands this but it doesn't stop it hurting.

Luke watches Han watching Leia (and doesn't that sound stupid?) and shakes his head.

He doesn't know why Han bothers to disguise his feelings for the girl- he doesn't understand what he's afraid of.

Luke told Leia he loved her the first night they knew they weren't going to die together.

And she smiled and sighed and left, saying she loved him too.

And at least it was over and done with.

But Luke personally can't stand this tension and wants to snap it.

Only Han knows that to break the routine is to break her.
