I'm glad you finally found someone to make you happy. I just wish it could have been me.

-Ginny

Draco frowned down upon the small note he had just received. When he'd come home the owl had already been waiting on the fence for him, the letter attached to its leg. He had just been to Ginny and they'd had a horrible fight. No, he reminded himself, it wasn't just a fight, it's over, we've broken up.

So what was she writing him for? Was it some kind of game she was still playing? Hadn't she listened to him when he had told her this couldn't go on like this, he was with Astoria now, they had a baby together! Finally he had told her he'd made up his mind and he had chosen family. He loved Astoria and they had a good life together.

He, a true son of his father, had of course been very convincing and able to hide his bleeding heart even when she had fallen to her knees, crying and clawing at her face and her clothes like someone had just died.

It hurt him, to see her like that, he knew he would always care for her, a little. At least Astoria would never behave this way. She would've gracefully accepted it in silence, maybe letting escape a single tear to accentuate her chastity.

He crumpled the piece of paper in his hands; he wanted to go to her, to demand that she'd tell him what the stupid little note was about. She was crying and tearing her hair out one moment and now she was glad. Glad? How could she! He'd told her he'd never be able to see her again. Did she have any idea how long that would be?

It took him all his self-restraint not to go to her and shake a sensible answer out of her. Instead he closed his eyes for a moment and pinched the bridge of his nose. He sighed and opened the door. 'I'm home, love.' he called.

It was a very small article in the paper the next day and partly covered by an excessive ad about some hair removal potion. He hadn't noticed it until lunch.

With pain and disbelief we announce the demise of:

You have left us broken.

Sweet girl, why did you leave us so soon?

Prompt/theme: betray - to lead astray, deceive

Challenge: You must add this bit of narration in the format of a letter/note in your drabble: I'm glad you finally found someone to make you happy. I just wish it could have been me.

Bonus: a twist.
