Mokou's hair was plastered to her face as she continued to sit in the rain. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, revelling in the peace and serenity she'd found. Which was strange because a Phoenix like her should have hated it but whatever. Screw logic

Lightning came with a loud bang as it hit somewhere nearby, the deafening boom almost causing the white-haired... Girl? She wasn't a girl anymore, was she? But she wasn't really a woman either. Maybe person would be best? It didn't matter though, to be honest

"...kou!?"

The immortal's head whipped toward the sound and she had to squint to see through the sheets of water. Why would someone be out at this time? It was pretty dangerous

"Mokou!?"

Again! Who was that... Was that Keine!? The girl stood and stumbled as her bare foot sunk into the soft mud. "Keine!" She cried out her name but the wind carried her voice I the wrong direction, the call dissipating in the wind. She ran further her eyes on Keine and then a loud crack as lightning struck and Keine fell to the ground, unrecognisable, burnt... Dead.

"Ahh!" Mokou's eyes flew open and she bolted upright, sweat pouring off her body. She immediately developed a pounding headache and wiped her eyes for any stray tears.

It was okay.

It was fine.

Keine was sleeping beside her again. She had no need to remember. Keine had been reincarnated after all. It had taken a few hundred years but she'd been reincarnated and she was still the same Keine.

This depraved form of love was all Mokou needed. The girl felt a warm hand on her back and she turned to be met with the concerned face of the resident teacher, her hair dishevelled from sleep. "Mokou, what's wrong? Do you need a glass of water?"

Mokou shook her head, her white hair cascading softly over her shoulder. "No, it's fine. I just had a nightmare. Go back to sleep, okay?" She smiled gently at her lover and reassured her with a trembling hand that came to rest on Keine's cheek. The blue-haired woman nodded a little dubiously but complied and rest her head on Mokou's supple thigh, falling back to sleep.

And she could do that because Mokou would protect her. No matter how many times Keine died, Mokou would patiently wait for her resurrection.

She wanted to be with Keine forever.
