Hi guys, so I just watched Mockingjay part 1 (I know I'm suuuuper late) I've also read the book but I really wanted to write about how Katniss felt about what happened to Peeta so here it is! :)
Katniss dreaded every step she took,
but she must know,
she needed to see.
She needed to see what she had done.
She felt guilt, guilt for what she had done to Peeta.
With every step she took, she repeated two phrases in her head. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to"
As the view of the illuminated room grew closer and closer to her, her fear heightened.
But with each fear filled step she refused to falter.
She refused to close her eyes, and she refused to give in to her own fear.
She must not break down now.
As she got closer and closer, she remembered the person she had known. The person she had grown to care for.
She remembered the way he smiled at her, the way he could make her believe that everything will always turn out for the better.
The way he could make her forget her nightmares for a moment.
The way he only thought about her safety.
She remembered the way he held her, and she remembered his eyes.
Those eyes that were always full of love, full of compassion, and full of hope.
She was never good with her words, but he certainly was.
He knew what to say and when to say it, he always knew the right thing to do.
She remembered her fear, and her guilt at knowing that she was safe and he was not.
Every waking hour wracked her with guilt. She agreed to be the Mockingjay, to be the voice of the people because she thought that SHE could save him.
Every time she watched him on the screen and saw that he was changing more and more, her fear grew for him because she knew that they were doing terrible things to him.
She didn't know
She didn't know to what extent they had hurt him.
She didn't know
And so she broke down.
When she found out that they were going to save him she was relieved. Terrified, but relieved nonetheless.
She had been renewed with hope when she finally heard the things she had wanted to hear for days.
"He's safe"
That's what they said.
"He's safe"
And at that moment there was nothing else she needed to hear, and there was no other person she wanted to see more than the laughing boy that she remembered.
The one thing she had not expected, was the look of fear that she saw in his eyes. The look of anger and wariness, and she most certainly never expected those emotions from him to be directed at her.
The image of the beautiful boy who always found a reason to smile vanished before her eyes, and was replaced by a painfully thin boy with eyes void of happiness.
Everything she remembered about him was gone.
He's gone, and it hurt her to her very core.
She felt pain at seeing him that way, and the last thing she expected was for that emotional pain to be replaced by a physical one, and she only realized too late that the one boy who had tried to save her was now trying to kill her.
And she blacked out.
And now she was going to see him again, because she wanted to see what she had done.
As her eyes caught sight of the boy strapped to his bed her heart stopped.
As she watched him struggle against his bonds she could barely breathe.
And as she watched his face there was only one thing she saw.
Fear
The only thing she saw was fear.
She stood rooted to the spot, her heart crumbling to pieces as she watched him.
Before any of this she never truly believed that there was anything greater than physical pain,
but as she watched him, all she could feel was pure pain as every part of her soul was ripped to shreds.
And at that moment she died.
-End-
Soooo, could you maybe tell me what you think about it in your reviews? Thankyouu! And Thankyou for reading :)
