Her chest started to tighten as the desire to go out for smoke increased. Ever since that break up six months ago, smoking seemed to be her only release. She buried herself in work to disconnect herself from the world.
She never cried. It was her who ended the relationship. From the very start, she knew about the risks she'd be taking. She knew she had to make a choice.
"I'm home." Kakashi said as he loosened his tie. Sakura sitting at the couch, the dinner she prepared is now cold.
"It's 11 o'clock." She said in a quite voice, unmoving. Kakashi gave a sigh and hugged her from behind.
"I'm sorry sweet. I had to work over time because one our computers crashed in the financing department." He kissed her softly.
"You promised to come home early. Do you know what day it is?" She looked at him straight in the eye.
"I guess not. Good night." With that Sakura stood up and headed to their bedroom.
"Sakura, look at me!" Kakashi grabbed her arm so that she would face him.
"I said I'm sorry! I need to work! This merger we're making is really stressing me out and you're mad about dinner? Be rea-"
"It's my birthday Kakashi! You promised me! Everyday for the past week, you told me you'd be home! It happened on Christmas, on Valentines, on our Anniversary!" Sakura was livid. He was not going to get away with this one.
Kakashi was silent. He couldn't look at her in the eye. Sakura removed his hand form her arm and packed her bags. She left. And he didn't stop her.
The void in her heart just keeps getting bigger. At times like this she wishes she had at least one friend. Her old friends disowned her when she started going out with him. She now wonders if she was wrong to pick him.
"Sakura, think about it! He's 14 years your senior! The fact that he's rich doesn't make it easier. People will see you as whore, you hear me? A WHORE!" Sakura's mother yelled in her ear.
"It doesn't matter what people think! I'm 24 I know what I'm doing! I love Kakashi and he loves me too!" She tried to convinced her mother, but her mother already had a conviction. That Sakura is trying to convince herself.
"Sakura.." Ino started. "There are a lot of other guys. It's not like you're ugly or fat!" Ino held Sakura's hand but Sakura pulled away.
"I choose him."
With that she went out the door, with her head up. Looking forward, never wavering.
She gave a small whimper as she thought of how pathetic she is right now. They've been together for 3 years, and now whe's been reduced to ruble.
She finally gave in to her urge to smoke and went out to smoke a stick. Her landlord is strict about that. She sat on the steps of her flat, lighting her cigarette and giving a long puff.
"You promised me you'd stop smoking."
Sakura dropped her cigarrete in surprise. She looked up and was instantly engulfed by warmth. Tears started rolling down her face, and at that moment she knew she made the right decision.
