The day has already arrived and I am excited to return to Yokai Academy. As I step onto the bus the ever creepy driver stares at me with his eyes. There is something wrong with those things. A sudden chill comes over me as I make way towards the back and notice I'm not the only one aboard.
He just sits there staring out the window as the bus begins to roll on. Guess I should say something.
"Hey, I'm Tsukune. Is this your first year going to Yokai?" Got to start somewhere I guess.
"No, I'm a senior, and did you say Yokai?" He replied with a puzzled looked.
"Uh yeah this is the bus to Yokai Academy?" I state apologetically.
"Great! Well this is an awesome start!" He yells sarcastically.
"Sorry, hey well we are stuck on this bus for a while anyway, so what's your name?"
"Aisuke, and I thought this bus was going to Tokai University." Aisuke takes a second to cool down as we both sit in silence, "So we are going to Yokai Academy uh? You like it there?" he asks. It would be another forty minutes until we arrived so why not….
How could I be so stupid! I have told him way too much. I regret it all as the bus finally arrives at the stop.
"Please Aisuke you have to keep all this a secret. No one can know about this place!" I pleaded with him. Aisuke look right at me and places his hand on my shoulder.
"Tsukune you have been here a year. What are you afraid of? If this place is what you claim it to be then you have nothing to fear. These monsters you talk about are nothing compared to what we live with everyday. You said that this place is here because humans are the dominate species right? Why do you think that is? What is it about you and I that could overcome monsters? It must be true otherwise this place would not need to be a secret. You say that without your friends you would have been dead long ago. You tell me that you are weak, that any one of these "students" could tear you to pieces. So why do you think you have friends? What do you have that they want?" I look over and surprisingly the bus driver is not about to go postal on us for the lengthy hold up.
"You and I have been given an extraordinary gift. It is the human soul. It is the most powerful and awesome force this planet has witnessed. The soul is capable of great love and great violence. Just one soul can sway millions of people to war or to peace. It can shatter any barrier or create indestructible bonds. That is what you have done here at Yokai. Love is the only thing necessary to conquer violence, not more violence. All that is required is to show someone that love. There is no adequate defense or measure of evil that can hope to overcome it. Those that consider you their enemy will be perplexed and unable to defeat you. They will throw all their hate at you and if you respond with love what can they do? If they seek your life and take it what have they gained? The act itself will only inspire others to love. Be careful with that gift and continue to do good things with it. Don't let hate or evil enter your heart. Anyway I'll see you around one day" Aisuke simply smiles and returns to his seat. As I exit the bus I wonder if what he says is true. Does a human posses great enough strength for this place?
