Of Love and Quidditch

(A/N: I don't own Harry Potter)

Harry had been waiting outside the History of Magic classroom for ten minutes now waiting for his star Chaser to come out. She was most likely asleep, being that it was Binn's class. Finally, the bell for third period rang and nearly everyone sprinted out of the goblin lecture, except for those who fell asleep. Ginny, however, was not one of those people.

He almost immediately saw a flash of red and he reached out to grab her hand. She jerked back by Harry's unexpected hold and turned to face him. He held on for a second more than he needed before he let go.

"Hey, Weasley," he said in the playful tone they had used all summer. "I need a word."

She looked him in the eye and nodded for him to continue.

"I just wanted you to know that we have practice tonight at six," he said. "Aye, aye, Captain," she replied with a mock salute. She already knew this, but Harry felt it needed reinforcing.

"I know you know already, but I can't have my star Chaser missing practice... again," Harry smirked. Ginny opened her mouth to draw in a breath, and perhaps to say something, but nothing came out of her mouth. "What exactly were you doing last time anyway?"

"I was hanging out with Dean," she answered. "If you want to know exactly details..." she added slyly.

The look on Harry's face was worth it. He closed his eyes for a few second and inhaled a deep breath. He had no desire to hear about Ginny and Dean.

"Please, I don't care to hear any specifics," he replied with his eyes still closed. When he opened them, he found Ginny stifling laughter behind her hand that was previously drowned out by the noise in the corridor. He rolled his eyes at her playfully, which caused her smile to grow wider.

"Don't worry, Potter," she said in a mock reassuring tone. "I won't skip to erm, fraternize with your dorm mates this time." She friendly patted his chest and walked away laughing and stealing glances back at the previous object of her affection.
