The alarm clock rang at 7:00a.m sharp. For this reason, Akito hated the number seven. It was too early according to her terms. She'd much rather get up a ten or something. Ugh, that irritating clock, why did it have to ring so loud? Akito picked up the clock and threw it across the room without even lifting her head from the pillow. As the clock it the wall, it shattered into a hundred pieces. Then it was quiet, much to Akito's delight. Five minutes later, Hatori walked in.

"Akito, you have to get up now." He told her.

"No, not yet." She moaned, still not lifting her head.

"Sleeping in is not good for you, Akito." Hatori said.

"I don't care. I'm still sleeping." Akito said.

"As your doctor, I'm telling you, it's very unhealthy." Hatori said. Akito sighed and sat up from her bed.

"Look, I'm the head of the Sohma family. If I want to sleep in, then I'll sleep in!" Akito shouted to the doctor.

"Suite yourself." Hatori said. Akito lay back down, but Hatori just waited at the door for a few seconds. Akito jumped back up.

"Great. Now thanks to you, Hatori, I'm no longer sleepy." Akito said annoyed as she got up out of bed.

"Good, now get dressed." Hatori said as he left the room.

Akito sighed and went to her dresser. She pulled out her binding bandage from the drawer, and a box of safety pins. She also took a sock out and put in down her underwear. She never quite got used to that feeling. Putting on the bandage was so annoying, and itchy. She hated the fact she'd probably have to wear it every day for the rest of her life. It's not easy to put it on either. She had to wrap it around really tight, but the ends don't always stay in their place. The first end popped out in the center of her chest, but when she tried to stuff it back in, she only messed up the rest of the bandage. She groaned loudly and threw her arms down. She would just have to leave it like that if it wasn't going to cooperate.

She went to her closet to pick out a kimono. She picked a red one that just might cover the bandage. When she tied it up, she looked in the mirror. The bandage was still clearly visibly in the center. She made a big sigh and picked up a safety pin. She tried to pin the sides of the kimono to hide the bandage, but it did no good. Her angry fists banged down on the dresser, knocking the box of pins down on the ground. All the safety pins fell out of their container and scattered all over the floor. She gave an even louder groan than before. She tried to walk around them, but she slipped on one, and fell into the pool of pointy objects.

"OOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW!!!!" She screamed as she felt dozens of pin sticking into her body hard. Hatori rushed into the room to see what she was screaming about.

"Akito! What happened? What's wrong?" He said as he found her lying in a pool of pins.

"That woman, Ren, that's what happened. That's what's wrong. It's her fault I have to go through this routine every morning! She's the reason why most of the family thinks I'm a man!" Akito shouted from the floor.

"Akito, your mother was not-is not well. She just had the insecurity of you replacing her in your father's heart as his favorite woman." Hatori said.

"Well who care, now?! Why can't I just march into the kitchen right now and tell everyone I'm a woman?" Akito asked.

"Calm down, maybe one day, but not today, can we tell everyone your true gender. Right now, it would just complicate things." Hatori said.

"Well, why do we have to go through this stupid tape-and-socks routine?! Why can't you just put me on hormone therapy?!" She asked.

"Hormone therapy doesn't work for us Sohmas, remember? We experimented on Rin, but we only put her in the hospital…again." Hatori said. Akito gave another sigh as she lay on the floor.

If Akito isn't happy, then no one in the Sohma house is happy, and that was a promise.
