"Please switch tables to the next available partner! Thank you and enjoy!"
Alicia cringed softly at the voice, as she whispered angrily into the phone at her beautiful Canadian friend, Gail.
"Gail, this is the most awkward and senseless thing you have ever done! You told me this was a movie theater, not a blind date experiment!" Alicia spat, scanning the room to make sure she wasn't heard at the faraway table.
Gail laughed loudly, before sighing sympathetically. "Alicia, you're 28. You NEED to finally find that guy for you. You're basically growing cobwebs out of your woman parts!" Alicia cringed awkwardly from her best friends words, realizing the sad truth behind them.
Alicia in her own eyes, was an independent woman who had an amazing career, and didn't need some dude in the way of that. But she had to admit, she's experienced some very lonely nights, and some very insecure feelings have found their way into her heart.
She sighed softly, before speaking to her friend again through the high-tech cell phone she had purchased not too long ago. "I guess so, Gail. But if this is a major fail, be ready for me to stiff you out in that right like never before. Don't laugh! I'm serious, I will-"
She suddenly noticed the familiar form sitting patiently at her table as she hung up her phone quickly, baffled by his presence.
"…..Stephen? What in the world are you doing here?"
As she spoke, she felt her soft brown cheeks glow from shyness. If anybody, Stephen was a man she would gladly date, give the time of day, or even something small as lend a soft smile his way. But she always thought her feelings were just merely something that would pass with time.
The older Irish gentleman chuckled softly, adjusting his coal grey flat-cap as his soft red hair peeked through. "I could ask you the same, lass. Me friend Gail told me this was some type of movie theater, and as far as we both can see that's very far from the truth."
Alicia's eyes narrowed at the sound of Gail's name being mentioned, as she realized what she had done. She held her face, cringing in embarrassment as she realized this was Gail's attempt to hook her up with the Irish gentleman she had for so long swooned over.
"I'm sorry, Stephen. I know this is as awkward for you as it is for me. Gail is quite the trickster, isn't she?" Stephen's soft ice blue eyes squinted as he chuckled softly, lending his thick hand to her in comfort.
"Honestly, Alicia, it's not. I could never find the right opportunity to ask a pretty lass like yourself to a nice date, so I guess Gail gave me that grand opportunity." Alicia gasped silently at his words, as her eyes attempted to meet with his soft blue hues.
She gave him a shy smile, as she studied the table with no words to say. He leaned across the table, stroking her face softly as he gave her a shy smile of his own, his soft pink lips pursing happily
"I'm nothing but an old Irish boy, still shy at heart me self. Let me show you what a good time is, just this once" She stared at him in disbelief, as the voice overhead spoke allowed.
"Have a nice night everyone! I hope a connection is made for at least one couple!"
